i know im late to this topic. most of the world already moved on from this and forgot it ever happened. yesterday in school a few of my classmates mentioned it tho, so now i want to talk about my opinion on it.
TW/ I will talk about some upsetting themes here: violence, sexual assult, racism and so on, so if ur uncomfortable with that i suggest you stop reading.
my classmates basically said that while yes, he was a bad guy, he didn't deserve to die. no one should get killed over political opinions and stuff like that. i very much disagree with this. people DO get killed over political opinions. many people already died because of his (specially his most "popular" opinions on gun violence and abortion rights). i dont think unnecessary deaths are a good thing, but i dont think his was unnecessary. my classmates basically said that "sure, he was bad, but him dying doesn't change the world. gun violence is still as common as it was when he was alive, women are still losing abortion rights like they did when he was alive. his death changes nothing. in fact, it might've even had a bad effect because it 'angered the conservatives', which would make them agree with his words and opinions even more.", and i do agree with some of that they said. yes, nothing really changed after his deaths. the world is still moving backwards. and i understand how that could make his death seem pointless to our cause, that it could make it seem like he died for nothing since nothing got better after his death. i'll get back to why i think it wasn't a bad thing, but first i wanna say a few things that'll hopefully help me make my point.
we can't fix america (or the world, overall) peacefully. protests and similar things will change nothing. specially with the state of it today. america is becoming more and more similar to hitler's germany. people are being forcefully sent to what are basically concentration camps. they have bad living conditions there and are abused: women and little girls are coming back pregnant when they weren't before. girls my age and younger. families are torn apart. there's multiple cases of boys and girls, men and women and everyone in between being beaten up inside those camps without any reason. people that have survived hitler's germany are saying how much this reminds them of that. and it's not just the poor people taken to those camps that are at risk today. 2026 is the year of most trans deaths in centuries. just this month, four trans people have been found murdered. LGBTQ+ members and people with mental or physical disabilities are threatened. even the basic middle aged, white guy is suffering under america's current leadership because of america's economics state. everyone, MAGA or otherwise is suffering for the 1% to have an even better life, and the minorities that they hate are experiancing much worse things. the publishing of the epstein files and the fact that no one mentioned in them had any consequences for their actions is literal proof that they are above the law. this type of situation cant get fixed by protests. hitler didnt get stopped because the people spoke against him. even the french revolution, where the people of france didnt have food can be used as an example. they fought for themselves, but the fight was violent. there's no other way at this point.
but who is going to fight them? who's going to go out and risk their life for this cause? who'll do something when everyone is sitting at home, distracting themself with who knows what so they don't have to face the reality? i don't blame people for not going out and shooting at every MAGA supporter they see. i understand that's unrealistic, and that it "wouldn't change anything", just like charlie kirk's assassination "didn't change anything". but something needs to be done. im too far from america to do something myself, and im far from smart or well-spoken enough to lead people into some type of revolution. the problem is that everyone thinks like that. no one is ready to do anything because they think that they can't. no one is fighting against it because they already think that it's pointless. and that brings me to why i think charlie's death wasn't a bad thing. why i think the attempted assassinations of trump weren't bad things. because someone decided that they could and would do something to stop those people. someone decided that despite the consequences, they couldn't just sit and watch all of this go down, and they had to stop it. i don't know much about the man that killed charlie, but i think it's safe to assume he wasn't stupid enough to think he wouldn't get cought. but despite the fact that he knew he'd most likely spend the rest of his life in prison, he still did what he did. he took a stand and he wanted to defend his people. i think that proves that there is a chance, that there might be more people who're ready to risk their lives for this. maybe one of them will be charismatic enough to give a few good speeches and convince people to join then. maybe there is a chance for a change.
to me, at least, charlie's death and trump's almost-deaths are basically hope. they're showing that there's people out there that are braver and more capable then i am, that those people might do something. i know i'm not fit to lead an army of revolutioners. most people aren't. but if just one of the people that are ready to do something took a more public approach, convinced people to do more then peaceful protests, then maybe there's a chance. if something like that happened where i live, i think i'd join them. it's not just my life that's at stake, nor is it just some other random people's lives. everyone is suffering right now, though some people's sufferings are much worse then others. i like to believe i'd do anything to change that.
i hope i worded this whole thing well and that my point is understandable. i just want to add something: i wasn't happy when i heard charlie died. i know many people were, but i really wasn't celebrating. when trump's ear got shot, i felt bad. i hate both of them with my whole soul, but i wasn't thrilled about their deaths. i think that's a normal reaction to have. i don't think people that were happy are bad people, far from it, but death is a really scary concept and it's normal for people to fear it or feel bad about it. at the end of the day, yes, seeing the video of him getting shot gave me slight chills. yes, i felt bad for a while, but i never once wished it didn't happen. regardless of wether you see his death as a cause for celebration or a necessary evil, it is a part of the long process of making a better world. it isn't supposed to be pretty or fun, but it is a good thing. just like, for example, the process of women fighting for their rights. women starved themself, died and were killed for the cause. (ofc im not saying that their deaths and his are the same. they were fighting for a good cause and he was speaking against it.) it's not a good thing that they suffered and died, of course it isn't, but it is something that had to happen for women to have rights today. if we actually step up, actually start to make a change, there will be deaths. both from good guys and bad guys, and i don't think either should get celebrated. however they will be a 'good' thing, aka a necessary evil, bringing us closer to the world we want to live in. it's not bad to be happy if a bad person dies. they absolutely deserve it. but it's also okay to have a negative reaction to their death, as long as you still do your best to look at the bigger picture and see the good in what their death will do.
