Dozens of wild sloths passed away from conditions at Florida tourist attraction Sloth World, More than 30 wild sloths passed away after being captured in South America and transported to Florida for a new tourist attraction called Sloth World, according to state inspection and necropsy records. State records show that at least 31 sloths died under the care of Sloth World between late 2024 and early 2025. The animals were imported from Guyana and Peru and held at a warehouse near Orlando’s International Drive as the company prepared to open a conservation‑branded visitor attraction. Let me remind you if you have to import animals it is NOT a Wildlife Conservation attraction it's just a money making scheme.

It's just like how Seaworld pretends to be about Wildlife Conservation when in reality it started as a water themed circus with abused Orcas they just wanted to rebrand their image after the blackfish documentary made their public relations image bad and ticket sales plummited same with miami sea aquarium and seaquest with their false claims of wildlife conservation efforts,  Inspection and necropsy records obtained by Inside Climate News and published by Daily Kos show the facility was unsuitable for arboreal rainforest species. According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission incident reports, the warehouse lacked reliable electricity and running water when the sloths arrived. Space heaters repeatedly failed, leaving the temperature too cold for animals evolved to live high in tropical forest canopies.

This preventable tragedy reflects a broader pattern linked to the commercial capitalism world-wide exploitation of wild animals. The drive to create viral, shareable moments often results in the removal of animals from their natural habitats and subjects them to, or causes them to die from, abusive, high-stress conditions.  Many of these operations disguise themselves as sanctuaries, using social media to make consumers feel their visit is supporting conservation, when in reality they are operating as profit-driven roadside zoos, ETC!!!
