Just putting this out there.
American right wing - mostly billionaires and hillbillies
Australian right wing - a movement that is rapidly growing due to being fed up with our current government and what they are doing, Its everyone, Farmers, city people, middle class, upper middle, lower class, Ive been right wing forever but its great to see people catching on with how bad our government is and wanting a fresh change.
Were not against immigration, were against immigration when it gets to a level of letting so many people in that we have no houses, jobs, infrastructure to support them, which we have none of that, so they end up living 16 people to one house and collecting centrelink (our version of welfare) which means the working people have to pay for them, Were fine with immgration as long as it was at the level Pre-Albanese was, where we werent overrun and couldnt fund it.
The cost of living is out of control, also partly due to more people in australia wanting things we only have a limited amount of, Back in the day, 4yrs of wages bought you a house, now its 16-18x your wage, and as someone whos 18 on May 20th, I will be entering the housing market in a few years, to be unable to afford anything.
Also groceries, it used to cost $30-40 for one nights dinner, that has over doubled, the other day i paid $150 for one meal plus snacks, Pre-Albanese we could afford dinner, During-Albanese, these are the prices.
Also when ScoMo (our previous Prime Minister) bought us enough petrol to last ages during covid, but then Albo gave it to Palestine for NOTHING in 2023, and now we have no petrol and it costs $12 a gallon,
One Nation (our right wing party) started to really become huge after the Bondi Terror Attack, because it was a thing of we let people with terrorist views into our country and they did this, and Albo did nothing,
Now to the Victorian government, run by the same party, but this state is so broke you could add up every other states debt and youll have like half of what our debt is, so what do they do, tax the shit out of us until we arent broke, whichll never happen, It started with Dictator Dan (our previous Premier), who spent so much money on stupid things like Safe Injecting Rooms (mind you, next to a Primary School), Tunnels we dont need (and no one uses), and hiring private security guards instead of the military to do Hotel Quarantine during covid (that went to shit, we became the city with the most toughest and longest lockdowns in the world and he was proud of it), then he resigned and Jacinta Allan came in, and shes pushed us futher into debt, Free Public Transport, but the taxpayer has to pay $400M for it, West Gate Tunnel, 4 years overdue, 20B over budget, 46% income tax, Refuses to comment on anything, is so, so condescending, A literal clone of Dictator Dan,
These are only a few reasons why Australia is converting to right wing, and not just hillbillies and billionires (if right wing was only billionaires in Aus, the party would get 30 votes), Its everyone from all walks of life who are fed up with our left wing government and how they are runing our country
If i wrote all examples,it'd take two years to read

To be honest these sound exactly the arguments from the American right wing. Literally have heard the same complaints about too much immigration but not being fully against it (the right wingers say they're not anti-immigration here either, believe it or not), use of tax money for "safe sites", use of tax money on what a lot of people believe in un-needed infrastructure. ETC ETC.
I think the main difference is that there isn't so much Christian Nationalism in the Australian right wing, but I could be wrong. Also, a question I have about Australia; is it the right-wingers or the left-wingers who HEAVILY support AI and AI data centers? Obviously here, it's the right wing, but I heard someone say it was opposite in Australia and I don't know if that's true.
Also, it's not just billionaires and hillbillies who are right wing here either. It is the middle class, it's SO many young people, it's most small business owners.
Just pointing this out, because you seem a bit confused about the right-wing in America.
tbh most hillbillies and red necks don't even vote, and a lot of the ones who do are democrats or at least vote blue because they want tax money to go to better infrastructure.
i know from america that from the county voting map thing, all the major cities (LA, NYC, Boston, Philly, etc) were all blue, and country areas were red, I obviously have to be in the US in an election year to fully grasp it, I havent looked much into AI over in Australia but I dont use it personally, I dont quite understand how it wastes water, i need to look that up, but judging by how stupid some left wing takes are over here, maybe their opinions come off chatgpt, I reckon both sides support it in a way, just its used differently, but then not much stuff i seen is AI over here yet, I feel like its just about to blow up now things like our sports teams are beginning to use it

I'm so sick of people in other countries saying they don't see AI much... It has been rampant here for a good three+ years now, so jealous of everyone else. I would definitely look into it, it really hurts American water systems specifically because we have some of the worst, outdated piping and city water systems on the planet (even in large cities), and companies keep attempting to build them in places that have very little water, like rural areas.
Also, the maps have to do with who has seats in cities and counties and voter percentages. That's why there is this redistricting hellscape going on right now in almost every state. Redistricting should have happened a long time ago, but it's also been a slippery slope into gerrymandering (on both sides) in the last few months. Ugh. It's just a mess here right now. Wish everywhere could have a legitimate third party running. Oh well, that will never happen.
But yeah, is there a push for Christian Nationalism from the right wing in Australia? Or is that more of an American issue?

Not so much Christian (there are lots of right wingers here from all religions), a little bit of nationalism (just we miss the old australia),
I also dont understand why states have points in your country (like CA 54, PA 19 whatever), over here, we just have compulsory voting and who got the most wins, Voting should be compulsory in the US, then youd work out who everyone actually wants in,
I didnt even know what AI was until mid-2025 to be honest, thats how little ive seen it

Our third party is actually the most preferred right now on a federal level

I will agree that our voting system makes no sense. It makes no sense that even if a majority is registered to one party, the district can say that their votes don't actually matter until after the preferred party votes are counted.
Very happy for your country that you have a third party that is preferred, what is it called? I would love to research it more.
What is "the old Australia"? And why do people want it back? I've never heard someone say that. I'm interested.
You are very lucky. Or unlucky. You might have the severity of AI that Americans have gotten shoved down your throats any give day. It is everywhere here.
And that's where my problem is, progress destroys things sometimes, but it seems like America is justifying how many data centers they need because of useless usage of the technology. You can barely do anything online without AI here. People have told me that even applying for a fast food job requires an "AI assist". It's ridiculous. Students have teachers pushing them to use AI because the teachers have AdSense on their chapgpt accounts and they make a few bucks when accounts associated with their e-mails use it. Utterly a waste of resources.
Or maybe that's just a reality we have to live with while our own country and other countries profit off of rural america dying. Idk. We're all fucked in my opinion, unless we vote locally. But nobody ever will.

Our third party is called One Nation,
The Old Australia basically refers to Before Albanese, or even just pre-covid, when you could afford the Australian Dream, Thats my view on it, but it honestly depends person to person on what it is, but basically back to when you were proud to call it home.
The AI being encouraged in school is totally wild, Over here we have "if your caught using chatgpt you fail", and as someone who worked fast food for two years, i never saw ai once.
Maybe i have to come back to America to see how bad it is (i do want to come back anyway)
