I saw this going around and wanted to do it myself!!
Please keep in mind that I'm a bit out of touch with the wider yume community as I'm not on social media,,, I don't fully know the newer culture as it's changed in the 10+ years I've been selfshipping for. I've had a few F/Os over the years but currently I'm very dedicated to Aoba Seragaki from DRAMAtical Murder!
Do you yumeship as yourself or through an OC?: As myself! I have an OC x canon pairing as well, but I consider that seperate from my selfshipping as its not, well... myself!
If you use OCs, how similar are they to you?: N/A
Are you okay with sharing, non-sharing, or do you not care either way?: I love sharing. I encourage others to selfship with my guy. He deserves all the love in the world.![]()
Do you have multiple F/Os or just one?: I used to have multiple, but Aoba kind of changed that. I went oh yeah okay I want to dedicate myself to this one. I'm still very fond of some other characters but I only consider Aoba my F/O.
What made you start yumeshipping?: Jesus I don't remember. I've been doing this since elementary school when I had a fake wedding to Edward Elric. I was really into the "fangirl" OC scene online and commenting "HEZ MINEEEE" on Ed fanart on Scratch, but I think learning about Akihiko Kondo in 2018 was when I found out that I could get REALLY serious with it.
Do you separate yumeshipping from real relationships, or do they overlap for you?: I'm aroace in practice and have no interest in a real relationship. Aoba's a pretty good alternative.
How do you feel about self-insert vs. OC-insert discourse?: I didn't know this was a thing.
Do you mostly yumeship for comfort, fun, or storytelling?: Comfort and out of passion!
Do you keep your yume content private, semi-private, or public?: I'm as public about it as I am anything else in my life. The internet might not be super aware, but my family and friends know.
Has your approach to yumeshipping changed over time?: LOL. Yeah.
How do you personally handle boundaries in yume spaces?: Block button is free! I can curate my own space.
Do you interact with the wider fandom, or mostly stay in yume-specific spaces?: I don't really use social media where these things would be present.
Do you view your yume ship as more casual or more emotionally significant?: Very significant to me. It impacts my worldview and perception of myself greatly. If Aoba does not exist to really love me, then I will love myself in his place.
Are there any yume-related norms you like or dislike?: I like that it's become more mainstream for sure!
