Going bananas

When you read the title I bet you thought i meant “going crazy” right??? You see, this is the PROBLEM, the root I MUST investigate……

Because why bananas? Why has the banana been chosen to represent such humorous public humiliation??? I must figure out why it’s so funny to people when I say i like bananas. Is it really such an oddity of a choice? Orrrrrr is it just the fruit itself….? Why are bananas so funny? WHEN did it all begin??!!! Will the poor banana ever get a rest and be taken seriously one day???!!

First off, the obvious: slippery bananas mishaps (sliphaps)…..

my oh my, today has been A DAY of skimming through what I would refer to an epidemic of 300 worth of news articles covering these sliphaps. All of which were from news publications starting in the 1800s from when news printing first became a thing in the U.S.….. that’s just the top of the glacier, imagine the amount of forgotten sliphaps with no historical records BEFORE print! For all we know, these happenings probably reach all the wayyyyyy back to some crazy time like B.C. or something

Also, I want to state a very, VERY important forgotten fact in sliphap history that must be renounced and brought back to life. Orange peels has banana peels beat by a LONG shot. Actually. Banana sliphaps became more prevalent during the MID 1800s whereas oranges in the EARLIER 1800s

To put this into perspective, and on a timeline, this is what it would look like:

。。_________________________________________。。

Orange sliphaps (Prehistoric Dinasour age)                                   Banana sliphaps (B.C.)

So now looking at this timeline, and connecting dots…..now I know you MUST be as confused as I am. Now the question isn’t what we were starting with, now it’s: Why on earth do oranges not bear this comedic curse of a reputation ??? Why on earth does it not make sense if I say, “going oranges”???

Yes,

That’s right folks, you’re thinking it, I’m thinking it, I’m spiraling.

I didn’t really find my answer.

Instead, I found out that these sliphaps are more-so hazardous than funny (welllll, one can argue lol). I’ll just rest with the conclusion that a banana’s awkward appearance does not help it one bit, and it may never get a day off ever from its label. And neither will my oddity for choosing it as my #1.

__

p.s. i actually cut this very short because I felt I was indeed going bananas…. At some point I started looking into philosophy a bit and was going to connect it to this humor technique connected to incongruity theory but then I stopped myself. I also found out way more behind the color yellow than I think I should have
