"alt is political"

the word "alt" is so commonly used nowadays it has lost its original meaning. "alt" is short for alternative, so anything different from the norm. personally i think looking different and standing out from the crowd is what alternative is, you do not need to put politics into it. HOWEVER, if you are a part of a politics-based alternative subculture like punks for example, you 100% need to be political. so basically if you just dress alternative and never get into the political side of it than you are "alt", but please dont call yourself a punk or a goth because its much more than just black eyeliner and a funky haircut
