Hey everyone. There are so many discussions to be had about the world right now, and with the Trump administration, and so many others (which I'll be working on writing about soon, I just haven't had time). There's so much going on right now it seems overwhelming to try and keep track of all of them, right? Everytime I open my phone, or go outside, I'm hit with bad news after bad news, and it seems like it's only getting worse and worse. And that's honestly the reality of it. Things will get worse, I believe that. But I also believe that things get worse before they get better. And I do believe things will get better.
The reality of the world in countless places right now is vile, and it's upsetting to almost anyone with a heart and a functioning brain. Society, and the government, and whatever else, is so, so corrupt and it's so clear to see. But that's the thing: you do see it. That's the first step, just seeing it and realizing it. And there, you've already got that down. Hope is genuinely SO important, especially right now. Even though it seems distant, it's there. I think many people forget that change starts with hope. You have to expect the change to actually happen. The reality is depressing, but that's good (in a way). It means you see it, and you're upset with it, and you want that to change. And that's step one.
But nothing can change with just a feeling. The most important part is acting on that feeling. Activism is so important and I cannot stress that enough. Even if you feel as if you're doing nothing, I can promise you that you are. I saw someone online make this example the other day:
Say there's a debate going on about pink and purple and which is the better color. I think that purple is superior, but my best friend and an influencer that I look up to both think it's pink. They post online about how superior it is, and maybe even put down purple. Now, even if I don't initially agree with them, the thought is going to be in my mind. Two people I really look up to are disagreeing with me on a topic, and even if I don't agree, I'm going to be wondering why they think that pink is superior. And the fact that the thought and curiosity is planted there, means something.
I really liked this example because I live in a very isolated town and I can't participate in many things such as protests. In my situation, typically, the most I can do is share and make posts online, most of the change I can participate in is online in these small communities I'm a part of. It feels hopeless. Like it's doing nothing, like there's no point. But that's not true. That one share, that one post, could be the post that changes someone's mind, or the post that sparks someone to act, yk?
Anyways, I hope this maybe helped anyone in any way. I'm going to be posting resources or information as soon as I can, please comment topics you'd like me to cover, or resources you'd like for me to share, and I'll do all the research for you. In the meantime, I'd urge you to do a little bit of research of your own, or a little bit or encouraging if you have anyone in your life you'd like to encourage. Please stay safe, fuck ICE, fuck Trump. Free Gaza, free Sudan, and anyone else who's in need or struggling or being wrongly killed today. And make sure to keep a little bit of hope.
