"its been here forever so why does it matter now?" a rant

twitter is incapable of being able to rise and move out of their own site and that is a huge issue

with the new "edit image" feature on twitter, many artists have started deleting their collections and pulling out of twitter to stop their images from being generated. of course there are twitter artists who are "defending this" (i say defend in quotations because they are not defending generated art, they are instead defending their decision to stay on the site despite the generation technology)

many twitter artists who are staying on the site and telling others that its not "that big of a deal" are claiming that since twitter has had generation tools ever since the takeover and the instillation of grok, so it shouldnt matter now that its more "accessible." twitter artists have had this happen to them before and it didnt matter then, so why should it affect them now?

this is wrong. fundamentally, purposefully, and entirely wrong. there is no other way to explain it, if you hold this opinion you are as low intelligence as those who vandalize others images with generative technology,

...and heres why.

grok had no way before to vandalize an artists pieces without having permission and the ability to do so. at first what was recommended to artists was to immediately block the grok account and turn off any settings that allowed it to scrape your artwork. this was a simple yet effective get around for making sure a troublemaker didnt destroy your art. there was also glaze and nightshade, which actively poisoned images for the LLMs so their database would pull upon ruined art. this would literally poison the database that LLMs would train their image moderation off of. these two methods could get around grok ruining an artists work.

but that has changed, now you cant tell grok to fuck off, because the "edit image" function is on everyones images regardless of your settings. it can also get around nightshade and glaze, making the poison technologies artists relied on effectively useless. this ruined many artists hope for twitter as a platform for sharing art. there are no get arounds like the scares of the past, you are actively forced to accept the new generative threat others have on your pieces.

i understand 100% that generative technology may have already scraped all of our art, but we should still be able to do whatever we can to protect our individual artstyles from the water sucking globe ruining LLM technology. it is extremely pessimistic to tell others that are actively worried about their art that its going to be okay because "well its already been scraped anyways so it doesnt matter." how much of an asshole are you? do you not care? like at all?

anyone not freaking out about this twitter development is a fool, a dumb fool that doesnt care about anything or anyone. if you share this opinion i consider you to reevaluate because this is simply wrong. im sorry.

twitter users are incredibly apathetic and self centered. im glad im moving off of that site. so many moronic individuals fester the site.
