Has anybody heard about the growing movement of gen z reverting back to “physical media”? That’s what many are calling it anyway. Personally i think the better term is intentional technology or intentional media because what they’re calling physical media is both analog and digital technologies. Intentional technology is a better term because it’s like this: if you want to use the internet, you get on the computer. want to talk to a friend? Use a telephone. Want to take a picture, use a camera. There’s intention behind the use of technology unlike with a smartphone which can do everything itself.
Anyway this movement is making the news so hopefully many will be on it. With things like Digital ID and doom scrolling addiction, it’s no wonder we want to go back.
I realized today when showing my mom my profile that instagram has so much information about me that i couldn’t even attempt to upload it all on my profile. That whole “don’t let them get your ip adress” is child’s play now. Any ten year old with an instagram account is accounted for in a digital archive of all of their most sensitive information. Now with digital ID (they’re coming for us to fellow Americans) that information belongs to the government and they will use it to categorize us. This ain’t the time for a rant or a whole blog about digital id and government control, just mean to say that i feel much safer on a platform like this

LOL i literally just made a blog post about this and was checking the recent blogs. I definitely feel like it's been picking up steam lately, it's gone from just nostalgia for that period to people wanting to literally go back, and they're right. We have become the product of modern technology, the tool that promised to make us more connected and productive has done the opposite.

Im participating in this movement, for my goals atleast intentional technology is better but i will keep a dumbphone for calls and texts, but yeah i hope it grows enough that it gets widespread all across the world
