The government is not us

Free men should not be limited by their governments. The state gets away with numerous crimes on a daily basis. They conduct theft, mass murder, and slavery on a massive scale. The state then justifies these crimes by purporting to be of the people. But as the iconic Murray Rothbard points out in his equally iconic pamphlet "The Anatomy of the State" the state is not us. He goes on "Under this reasoning, any Jews murdered by the Nazi government were not murdered; instead, they must have “commit-ted suicide,”. Indeed, his pamphlet illuminates in an objective way what the state is and how it operates. It shows us that the state can only exist by peddling propaganda that its rule is necessary or inevitable so most people begrudgingly accept its rule
