I see so many people on the internet and even IRL saying they don't like to pick sides or talk about politics. Like girl.. this isn't you picking sides between your mom or your dad, this is deciding whether to be educated in a world that's falling apart or being blissfully and ignorantly uneducated.
I totally understand that this could be a heavy topic for some and that the world isn't all black and white, but those excuses can only go so far. It just SCREAMS privileged to me, because even if it doesn't directly affect YOU, that doesn't mean you wait until it does. It honestly baffles me to know that some people see others struggling for their lives and CHOOSE not to care. And those who religiously protect billionaires need to grow a brain because if you were on fire, they wouldn't even waste their own piss to put you out. AND THOSE TAYLOR SWIFT FANS OH MY LORDDD STOP RIDING HER DICKKK SHE CANNOT CARE ANY LESS FOR YALLLL
(btw this is super unrelated but those who say "but when a man does it.." to protect taylor swift, its pathetic. Even if a man did it, he still should get the same shitty treatment. Don't excuse her shitty, narcissistic, billionaire, misogynistic, trumpie behavior with fake feminism. You're making a fool out of yourself.)
Anyways thats all i have to say, feel free to share ur own opinions bc I'd like to learn your take as well :3 alpha OUT

I think people need to understand that saying "I don't care about politics" is just about the least apolitical thing one could say. The one person who says this kind of shit and I'm vaguely friends with has parents who are landlords and is white and native to the country. Like, he SCREAMS of privilege and absolutely refuses to address it.
Why did you have to bring race into this

Because as a white person he isn't subject to racism and therefore can ignore it more easily. ?? Obviously..?

Everyone can be subjected to racism

The problem with politicians is that they don't care about you and your needs, they just pretend they do to make you vote for them. While I admit there are worse options, I don't think we have to force people to decide, specially in politics. Because you're right, is not so simple as deciding "mom or dad", it's a very complex theme, and you need to understand said complexity to be able to choose. As you said, life is not black and white, and therefore ideological wings aren't either. They all have their own problems, and it's hard to pick a side. SPECIALLY when you are NOT privileged and have to be careful, in societies not so developed is normal to not want to pick a side because you know both are terrible. Besides, not picking sides and not talking about politics aren't the same thing, and consider the later to make sense. No one, and I mean no one, owes you their perspective on things. Is also not a question of being "uneducated", that is terribly arrogant of you. A lot of people who don't do politics are educated as well, and you don't know their reasons to not get involved in politics. Such as politics is a nuanced theme, not being into it is also very nuanced.
youre right on that, thank you!

No need, your indignation is fair. Specially because it is a fact that a lot of "neutral" people are not neutral at all. My comment was referring to true neutral people, but lately I have seen a lot of people claim to have no side just to avoid admitting their radical opinions (SPECIALLY conservatives), so often time "no side" isn't a literal statement. It can also be very disarming to see people that don't get involved in things that mean a lot for us, but oftentimes there are reasons beyond our understanding, and for some people, neutrality is the best option when the system is not working on their favor, no matter what they choose.

a lot of people dont realize that while you might not do politics, politics will certainly do *you*

The indifferent people are so obnoxious, but at the same time politics have tons of nuance to it and it’s understandable that it can be a little difficult to really choose one side or the other because the whole party system in the united states of isreal is kind of an illusion of choice, but to have NO opinion about anything at all is just crazy to me.
