consumerism that apple generates

Today I'm going to talk about something I really hate. Something that, according to my friend who fiercely defends Apple, is "a marketing strategy that benefits them because they sell more than Samsung or any other brand". I'm not here to say which brand is better or worse, let me make that clear. This is just my opinion on all of this.

Apple typically releases new phone models and their 30 different variants (Pro, Pro Max, and all that shit) every year. This is what a friend of mine, who fiercely defends them, calls a "marketing strategy" because they sell more than any other brand. Of course, it's not their fault what their customers do, but CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE CONSUMERISM THEY GENERATE? Why would you need to replace your phone, which was the latest model, with the newest one that just came out? Your phone still works, it still gets updates, IT'S STILL NEW BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT IT A YEAR AGO. It's completely unnecessary to buy an even newer one, and usually, the people who do it are just showing off that they have the latest model (like some people I know who wanted to buy the new model). I repeat, Apple isn't responsible for what its customers do, and of course, this benefits them incredibly, but that's pure consumerism.

Consumerism irks me too but it's basically what's been controlling society for decades. It gets to a point we only buy because we like to replace and throw away. I've never understood its appeal, nor the reason you would deliberately choose to buy the latest version of iPhone every time it releases.

But, for sure, the companies are often responsible for what becomes of their products, not even just marketing in apple's case as you pointed out. Literally the reason we are FORCED to buy new devices at least once every few years is because they are made to stop functioning after a while.

FRRR, speaking specifically about cell phones bc it's the first i thought, before you could open them from the back, change the battery, EVERYTHING. Now I THINK there's no way to open them from the back anymore, you just replace it (or so I think, I have no idea, but at least you can't open it yourself anymore)
