Hi!!!
I used to read A LOT of books until high school started and i got both busy and demotivated. Even when i had the motivation, time, and energy to read, i couldn't seem to get interested in anything no matter how hard i tried. Fortunately, a few months ago I graduated and now I've been trying to get back into reading bit by bit.
When i was younger i liked murder novels and dystopian fiction the most, but somewhere during early teens i started liking fantasy a lot more LMAO. That's also around when i got into mythologies for the first time (greek, norse, and egyptian mainly, thanks to rick riordan) and fixated on them for YEARS. As for right now...i dont think i have one particular genre im interested in. I guess maybe a mix of fantasy and mystery?
Anyways, at the start of this year, i got sick (chicken pox; it sucked!!!!!) and had to leave school for a bit. During that time i tried reading The Little Prince and, because it was really short, i managed to finish it. That alone gave me more motivation to pick up reading again. Although i wasnt successful in reading a lot (i blame exams), one of the novels that i ended up reading in entirety was the fourth light novel from bungo stray dogs, 55 Minutes. It was SO good. I enjoyed every page and i was baffled when i saw some people (very few, but still) call it boring. I love atsushi to hell and back, and since the book was mainly focused on him, i loved it so much. There was one particular paragraph about atsushi's relationship with pain (on page 160, i think?) and it was written SO well.
Recently, ive also started reading classical literature, and currently im reading Edgar Allan Poe's, 'The Murders in the Rue Morgue'. My interest in murder mysteries is def coming back lol
Reading like a maniac throughout my childhood was the whole reason why im good at english and got an A+ with minimal effort this year (even though all my other grades sucked really bad......i got an E for the first time in my life, sob). Im in college now and had to pick english language as a subject once more, so i think getting back into reading is a good idea, now of all times especially. Plus, my whole life is shaped around fiction so reading again just gives me room for more hyperfixations :D
Also, remember that listening to audiobooks or reading fanfiction is just as valid as reading "proper" books. Read whatever you want, but read. That's all. Have a good day :)

it's definitely a rite of passage for any reader to read the classics.
i often see people talking about how school gets in the way of their reading time. i'm glad to know that it's the opposite for you! i hope this passion stays with you for a long time.
Hehe thank you!!
