The TCC

DISCLAIMER: this blog is not an attack on the furry community or anybody in particular, I am just voicing my thoughts on the matter. Keep in mind I do not support the actions of people mentioned in this blog nor any perpetrator for that matter.

I never really understood all the hate towards the TCC (true crime community). I've seen so many people get harassed, doxxed, permanently banned off so many platforms, including SpaceHey, of course, for what? An interest!

You might whine and moan "but they idolise killers and shooters and rapists" and all that good stuff. But hear this:
Furries, for the sake of an example, have a bad reputation. They're known primarily for their involvement in zoophilia, pornography, the kink community, etc. You can cry that's not true, but it is, most people that touch enough grass have that idea of furries. But you've got people defending them left and right, that the furry community isn't all about that, that it's just a select group that are weirdos, just like it is for any fandom or community online.

TCC members are largely the same. It's just another fandom online, just another community that happens to have some weirdos here and there but there are plenty of non-soon-to-be mass shooter nazis out there. I've lurked around that community, I've called myself a part of it and maybe even still do. Picking up an interest in true crime, cases like, let's say, Columbine or Sandy Hook or the Academy Maniacs, to name a few well-known and largely associated with TCC, doesn't mean you're the next copycat.

Now, I fully understand how it can be of concern knowing large portion of the TCC is below the age of 18, still very immature. I've seen people as young as 12 on there, and in all honesty I too feel concern over the fact that such young people, kids, vulnerable to influence, are exposed to this content. But isn't that an issue with the internet as a whole? In my opinion, it should be the responsibility of the parent to supervise and educate their child. The TCC itself is not directly responsible for bad parenting.

You can't harass and doxx kids simply because they have an interest. Just block and move on. The internet will forever be full of fucked up shit, what you're doing is censoring part of it and making people who already most likely feel like the odd one out feel even more alienated. The hatred for the TCC contributes to the issue. The internet will forever be a place to host fucked up shit, the internet will forever be a place where people of all ages, primarily teens, seek refuge when they feel alone. Eliminating one community doesn't solve the problem, killings will still take place, shootings will still take place, all sorts of horrible people and horrible acts occur every day and you cannot stop it, certainly not by sending death threats that only serve to worsen the issue.
