"He was a villain." | Dream Journal

12 Oct. 2019

There were three main characters in this dream. An eleven year old girl, a tall old wise man, and a teenage version of Krelig, one of the main villains in the Trelian Trilogy. Unlike the character in the books, he wasn't all that evil. He was a bit of a trouble-maker but would never do anything to intentionally harm someone, but he still dreamed of becoming an awesome villain.

While these characters looked like they came out of a medieval fantasy novel, they were running around a modern looking city with skyscrapers and stuff, either on some kind of quest or running away from someone. The climax of this story took place in a little book shop that looked more like a convenience store. It was very crowded and other than the main three, everyone didn't really seem like people but more like brainless NPCs.

Krelig was lying on the ground in pain and all the girl and old man could do was watch and hope his pain would go away soon. Suddenly the dream had a narrator that said, "He had a pain in his thigh, in the same spot that would get itchy when he lied to little girls." A very ordinary, very generic looking man stepped out of the crowd and walked towards them. His face was completely void of emotion, almost robotic looking. He took out a knife and swiftly stabbed Krelig in the thigh before anyone could do anything to stop him. Krelig screamed in pain before he shut his eyes and died. The man walked back into the crowd like nothing had happened, as if murdering someone was no big deal.

The girl was shocked andĀ devastatedĀ and was probably crying too. The old man seemed sad but not surprised, as if he had already seen the future and knew this would happen. No one else in the store cared at all, like the only thing that had been killed was a simple pest, which was basically how they viewed Krelig. The girl asked why anyone would do such a thing. The old man's explanation was something like, "He was a villain. That's all these readers saw in him. They couldn't see that he was as innocent as the rest of us because the author has led them to believe he was evil before he had the chance to do anything wrong."
