How can something so dumb, quick, and pointless take over so much of my life?
I'm tryin to quit smoking (again), but going cold turkey's always been imposible for me: I'd resist for a few days, then go back to it.
I'm actually starting to like the taste and smell of cigs less and less, but I still smoke one or two a day.The problem's when I go out with friends at night, maybe with some drink, I totally lose count of them.
Maybe I'm just bored? Maybe nothing is distracting me or getting me involved enough to make me forget about wanting to smoke?
This isn't just about the physical addiction, to be clear (luckily, the few times i quit for a few months, the physical part wasn't the hard bit, it was all mental.) It's that I enjoy it, the action itself, the whole routine... maybe I'm just trying to find excuses.
The real problem is that I wake up and my first thought goes to the cigarette, I dont like this.
I don't even know if I need advice from anyone who reads this, but if you're going through this, or have been, let me know.
Bye.

The first step to quitting is recognition! You're doing great just trying, I wish you the best of luck!

Im personally not a smoker or tend to become anytime sooner, but I do know for a fact my nana is a smoker who is struggling with addiction. The things I've seen her do is do things that distract her mind, or she limits to herself (kinda like fasting in a way?) thats about all I know since I don't live with her and havent seen her in a while...BUT I do hope you overcome this addiction soon! :)

Well knowing what causes your cigarette addiction is pertty important for forming your strategy in quiting. Still in most cases ,doesn't matter the cause, conditioning yourself into another routine might be helpfull and another common strategy is changing your cravings for example when the craving for cigarettes hits, you might try to replace the cigarettes with some of the snacks you like. Anyways i'm not sure if i'm helpful lol good luck man i'm sure you'll succeed.
OMFG ITS SO IRONIC TO WRİTE A COMIC LIKE THAT W MY PFP SORRY

My best friend smokes several sigs a day despite wanting to quit all the time and even trying to. Nothing I tell her makes her stop from doing it haha. Sometimes I think you need to hit rock bottom to quit an addiction˙◠˙
damn... it'd be great if i could just stop before it's too late, lol

hi again
idk but as far as i know such small rituals like a sig or a cup of coffee first thing in the morning, or some special treat after work are usually meant to make u feel grounded and emotionally stable by giving u feeling of routine and some stability in chaotic life.
so u can try thinking about what u felt the moment before u thought about smoking a cigarette. like what was the cause of that impulse.
after u see the cause u can try replacing it with different ritual that u see fit.
but it only works if it’s not an addiction and more a psychological thing.
ahahaahah my top commentator! btw i understand what u say, but that's not so easy... it requires rlly strong self-discipline (i suck at it)
