Every other week a Chat-GPT re-write makes its way onto the top of blog posting. Every other week you guys fall for it every damn time. Normally it uses the same umbrella of far right rhetoric, simple-minded, theoretical, anti-intellect, and puerile. Its use is less likely to be a genuine argument but doubtlessly use the masses of docile online users who fact-check using reddit. However I'll follow up with said masses and remind; You do not understand.
Even "straight-forward" topics have extensive history, culture, neglected contexts, nuances, all relating to not just that one topic but the web of events and people that lead up to it. I absolutely urge anyone to not read about these topics in summaries through blog posts, forums, or cult-like communities. I absolutely urge everyone to go past your personal feelings about ANY topic and do genuine research on any political conversation, no matter how much you feel you "understand."
Youse lots of the time are still looking for identity, and that is okay. Be clear with yourself though, the politically-driven internet, lacks. They lack discipline, patience, understanding, wisdom, and grace to topics they incessantly, carelessly, speak of. They lack the aforementioned traits that the insecure masses are looking for. But have the same in common. A need for answers without wanting to put in effort. A complete intolerance for endeavor. Nevertheless the grandiose internet differs by providing self-sustaining comfort. Instead of going through the natural --real world-- pressure of conflict, understanding, and resolution; a reliance and safety net is formed around the shared, simple, and half-assed communities. A commonality, that is often not pushed or pulled, ergo neither side cares to know enough to change it. It is why netizens regurgitate the same genres of talking points and opinions, and why there is a complete lack of discipline, complete lack of awareness, and little to no room for refinement. Education is not just about understanding the world around you. Learning should not be a mindless agreement. It should be uncomfortable and tedious, it should make you feel there are not enough days in your life for you to understand. It is a reflection of a series of histories, breakthroughs, and revelations that piece together the current moment and your involvement in it.
Educate yourself on the topic to the best of your abilities. No. Not through clicking the blue highlighted links on whatever forum or blog you're reading, but by venturing down the rabbit hole yourself. Books, reviewed papers, journalist reports, educational reports, scientific data, documentaries, finding people who have degrees in relation to said topic, things that take time are all so much better than exploring baseless claims from absolute incompetent individuals who often choose not to or cannot fathom the complexity of humanity. Always have intellectual humility. Do not fall for simplicity, for comfort, and then go on to believe you are entitled to argue with someone as dull as you. More often when you walk away from your research you will find the truth is not red or blue; that you should've known more from the beginning.
The online political landscape leads people to echo-chambers. Often, it makes people feel "rooted" within a community, having a "stable" identity inside it, due to shared beliefs. I am an extremely politically inclined person; however I completely dislike talking about politics within the media circles. The communities tend to be one-dimensional, neither sides know or care what's going on, and it's hard having any conversation that isn't superficial. This isn't to say that these conversations should not happen, but the reliability and reasoning (or lack thereof) that the internet has when partaking them matters so much less when you sit down and know what you're talking about. So know what you're talking about.
So, two healthy reminders.
One, there is no stable identity, humans have evolved to change with the flip of a coin. You should be forever learning, forever changing. (Don’t allow yourself to be so boring.)
Two, political engagement on the internet often contributes to poor mental health. Go outside, read a book, get involved somewhere local , but take care of yourself. (Don't let yourself be a sad sack of shit.)

kinda dookie random rant. im just tired of seeing the middle-schooler edgy theoretical philosophy and everyone being like "WTF DUDE??!?!/1 bro ur just wrong [insert actual argumet and give a bunch of attention to someone who just wanna be validated]" or some random kid actually falling for it and agreeing and NOBODY just link three papers and four books on why they're wrong.
guys can we be literate again?
