Look I get it, things can seem worse than ever these days. Now seeing a tragedy is only a click of a mouse away. News networks will tell you that their side is great and noble while the other side is less than human. It's easier than ever to be swept up to join such a "noble cause". People want to be a part of something, but many of us do not want to view our neighbors and friends as traitors and inhuman. I crafted some tips to help us stay connected even as our world seems to burn, enjoy!
1. Unplug from the News - I know it sounds trivial but it really works. Just spending a week without clicking on national news can do so much to help calm you down. Now I would still try to stay in the loop of things like the weather... Wouldn't want to get caught in a storm XD.
2. Talk to those who Disagree - Let's face it. You and that one boy in history class won't see eye to eye on everything. Some things may be more personal than others and I am not trying to say that those issues are not important. In that same breath though I will say that you aren't going to foster growth of ideas if you don't talk about them. It isn't easy, and that's why people don't do it, but you must "be the change you want to see in the world" - Mahatma Gandhi
3. Get Out there and Live - Do you have something you're passionate about? Do you want to save the whales, help feed veterans who can't get the services they need, or just work to have open dialogue with others? Do it! You aren't too young to make a change. Work with friends and people in your school, church, or community and make it happen! There are other like-minded people in your life and maybe you don't know it yet! I believe in you!
It's certainly smaller than my last blog, but I want you to know that this isn't a war. The fight isn't between us. You can place a blame on who that is, I believe in the existence of God and the devil and he is the enemy that seeks to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). However, you don't have to be religious to know that this needs to stop. You can be that change, you just have to believe!

Polarization occurs when you call someone a bad/good person because of what they are saying. To avoid polarizing yourself, judge the action on its own, not the person.
It is quite common to do this, so it is important to practice self-awareness.
What I mean by this is that you really don't need to dissociate yourself from the news, you just need to separate the speech from the person when you're having a debate.

Yes and the news is very important but I meant it in that we have so much at our fingertips these days that polarization is inevitable when we are always in tune with it all. It's always a happy medium ofc.
Though not to downplay your point. Isolation from it all can be just as dangerous as being too in touch with it all.
