your comfort should not come before your concern about social issues.

so before i continue this rant, i want to make it clear that it's 100% okay to have hobbies. it's 100% okay to take breaks from things that are stressing you out. it's 100% okay to have aspects of your life that dont revolve around politics. ...but this is something that has always bothered me about some people. you'll try to say something in a show or movie they're talking about mirrors some current event going on, and they'll go "oh, well i dont want to talk about that,,, i just want to talk about [show/movie]!!!" and that's all fine and dandy, because like i said: it's okay to want to take a break from the stress of constant world issues every now and then. but then a good while later, youll talk about how you're worried about the current state of the world- which is the actual start of the conversation- and they'll go "uhmm.... i dont wanna talk about that.... it makes me uncomfy :(" IT SHOULD! OUR RIGHTS, AND POSSIBLY OUR LIVES ARE ON THE LINE!! that's why we HAVE to talk about it!!! and like i said earlier- it's okay to want a break sometimes!! it's okay to want to destress with hobbies!! read that book!! tend to that garden!! bake that bread!! paint that canvas!! but you cant just STAY in your comfort zone when people's LIVES are on the line. if you're quiet now because you haven't been a taget yet, then by the time you are, there'll be no one left to support you- because you read too many books, grew too many plants, baked too many loaves, painted too many canvases to hear them.
