finished the summer hikaru died

*mild spoilers below*

first queer horror... kinda nervy... but serious mode now: just finished season 1 of the summer hikaru died. i watched the last 3 and a half episodes in one go and was straight up ugly sobbing at the end. snot dripping down my nose and all. 

THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. 

this is not a review and more just the cleansing of my soul. but when i clicked on the summer hikaru died like 16 weeks ago out of boredom after a brief scroll on netflix i didn't know what fucking peak i'd stumble onto. but i quickly realized after the first episode alone.

straight up stunning visuals, intriguing concept, a relatable experience. nasty, depraved pining. literally what more can you ask for. i watched a majority of the episodes week-to-week until the last few, probably because there was a part of me that didn't want it to end. but just finished it a few hours ago and i'm shook. 

yoshiki and hikaru just want somewhere to belong and they find that in each other and they both perceive themselves to be monsters for completely different reasons and. well, one of them does murder people lol. but the quiet, repressed tragedy of growing up in a conservative small town. the erotic subtext to the eldritch horror. the mystery of this fucked up town!! the knife hanging over your head as you consider taking matters into your own hands for the greater good, but ultimately discarding it. 

AGH. delightful. criminally delicious. would recommend.
