๐Ÿ’๐ŸฉPapanasi๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿ’

This is a romanian sweet dish that I loooooveeee. (craving it rn actually)(similar looking like donuts but far of taste wise)ย

Ingredients:ย
๐™š500g Quark
๐™š100g sugar
๐™š2 eggs
๐™ša pinch of salt
๐™šVanilla sugar (usually 14g)
๐™š1 tablespoon lemonjuice
๐™šlemon zest (half a lemon)
๐™š200g flour
๐™š1 teaspoon baking powder
-for sauce
๐™šsour creme
๐™šsome milk
๐™šA glass (340 g)Sour cherry jam/Wild Berry Jam
๐™š1L oil
๐™šsome flour

Preparation:ย
1.)Drain the quark overnight in a sieve.

2.) Next day, mix the dry quark with the sugar, eggs, salt, vanilla sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Then add the flour and baking powder and mix.(you may have to add more flour depending on how large the eggs were or if the quark was still soggy) Let the dough rest briefly.

3.) Meanwhile, heat the cooking oil in a pot.

4.) Form eight large and eight small balls from the dough. Make a hole in the center of each large ball so they have the shape of a donut. (You'll need plenty of flour to prevent the dough from sticking!!!!)

5.) Now fry the dough rings and the small balls (one after the other!!!) in the hot oil, turning them occasionally. Drain the dough on paper towels. (don't squish!)

6.) Stir the sour cream with a little milk until smooth. Warm the jam slightly.

7.) Arrange the Papanasi as follows: Place a ball on a Papanasi ring, add one to two spoonfuls of sour cream and jam, and serve the Papanasi while still warm.ย

Long process but for me definetly worth it. (I was craving it so much once that a friend made me these for my birthday haha)ย
