*A bit of a rant, sry*

It's so hard to love my country sometimes. Imagine getting fucked by several major earthquakes, one major volcanic eruption, and now recovering from a strong typhoon that killed over a hundred people (mind you, that's only what was recorded, the true number of deaths could be higher) and destroyed cities and homes. Only then to be fucked again by an incoming typhoon that is predicted to become a super typhoon that is sure to devastate the country once again. All in the span of three months. If that wasn't enough, the only thing our politicians care about is lining their pockets and shirking away their responsibility of serving the citizens.

I hate this country, but I can't bear to leave it. It's the only country I've ever known.

I hate the tourists posting funny little tiktoks about it. What do they know? They can leave whenever they want. To them, it is a story they can talk about back home. To us, it's the reality we face year after year.

We are not resilient, we settled. We learned that none of our leaders care enough to provide long-lasting and reliable solutions.

The rest of the world is impartial too. Climate change will hit my country the most, the typhoons will get worse-- faster, bigger, deadlier-- if nothing is done about global warming in the near future.

It has been embedded into me to be proud of my country, my heritage. Yet I feel like I've been lied to, and it is that very same pride that leads me to hate the country for its worst parts.

I hope my friends and their families are safe and recovering from the typhoon that just passed, and I pray for the entire country for when the super typhoon will hit next Monday. Especially for those who are in the path of its eyewall.

Please, send prayers to the Philippines.
