why does a simple truth make SOME men so uncomfortable?

why do some men get defensive whenever the word “men” is mentioned in a negative context?

for instance, someone posted, “rape, sa, and murder existed long before miniskirts and tank tops. how about we start actually educating men instead of punishing women?”

to be clear, the op was only referring to those who have committed these crimes.

but instead of acknowledging the issue, some men in the comments rushed to deflect and say, “women do it too.” nobody ever said they didn’t. yes, gender doesn’t determine morality. people in general are capable of terrible things.

still, why the immediate need to derail the conversation instead of confronting the problem?
why do some men take it so personally?

 genuine question.

I’m not one of the men that this post is talking about, so I can’t answer the question of why those men react the way that they do, but I can answer why other people react negatively to that. It’s because when someone says that men need to be educated (and they do!! I completely agree), but they don’t also say that women need to be educated, it subtly implies that men are always the perpetrators, never women, which causes more harm than good. Men absolutely do commit sexual crimes more than women, but it’s not like it’s uncommon for women to do it either, women are just punished for it less than men (because of the misogynistic belief that women are “weaker” and can’t harm men). This is very obvious in the way that most people laugh or get confused when a man says he was sexually harmed by a woman.
The solution: altering the given quote slightly to say “people” instead of “men”, which includes all incels and rapists.

TL;DR because this was a bit long: I agree that men need to be educated, but so do women. Everyone can rape, everyone can be raped, when people say only men need to be educated, it puts down male victims and people with female perpetrators.

Men, specifically the ones who think everything is about them and have their heads up their lonely butts, think like this. They think and take everything so bloody personally that they have a Whine whenever something is remotely related to men in a negative light.

I honestly have no idea why they act like that. But 100% the only Women they'll ever get close to while acting like that is their mother.
