i don’t understand when a person says they’re “not too political.”
what i find even more mind boggling is that they’re often the exact demographic being directly affected or targeted. how does someone choose to stay ignorant when the issues at hand literally impact their life and community? it’s not about choosing sides, it’s about acknowledging reality. staying neutral or detached doesn’t make you above the problem, it just means you’re comfortable enough to ignore it.
i recently had to end a friendship for that very reason. despite being friends for a long time, i just got tired of tolerating that kind of mindset. i’ve already tried confronting her about the issue, but every time i do, she shuts me off by saying it makes her “uncomfortable.” like, ma’am, this isn’t just some harmless debate. this is about real people whose lives are being affected every single day. choosing to stay silent when you have the privilege to speak up is exactly the problem. please, say something. use your voice.
stop with that nonsensical bs about being “not too political.”

ion even think its "apathy" as much as stupidity... as a person Disorders that cause apathy as a constant symptom, even i pay attention and try my hardest. like do i care as much as The Average Person? probs not. but i still see when smthn is Wrong and needs to be fixed. not so much out of "that must be so hard 2 go thru... :[" but more out of "thats messed up. this world is screwed unless someone tries to fix it." and... no one else is going to fix it unless we all work together. obviously. so... why the hell not at least try?? its not like i'll care much if nothing gets fixed anyways, so... where's the harm in it?
like ive even seen people go "well i lack empathy so idgaf abt [horrific world event]" lmao me too!!! it's still fucked? like. objectively. like if all feelings are removed, it's still pretty screwed up. personally, i dont really enjoy the idea of the horrific bull reaching me on a personal level. i've had enough go on. it's simple self preservation to do something abt it. survival is god, etc. its pretty simple and easy to go "idgaf abt other people, so i'll make it about myself" and still end up doing just as much as a person who genuinely does feel empathy and intense care. idk how some people are sooooo stupid.. like... it's gotta be a bit or on purpose bcs i fr cannot see any other way.
my bad if this makes no sense, just adding my take bcs... it's so far past apathy it's almost laughable.

hi, i just wanted to share that there’s more to the situation than what i’ve mentioned. please keep in mind that the details i’ve provided are only a fraction of the full story.
and hypothetically speaking, what if a person ends a relationship because of that? personally, i don’t think it would be necessary for them to justify their decision to end a friendship, no matter the reason. at the end of the day, it’s a choice they’re making for themselves. of course, that might not be true for everyone, but from what i’ve seen, that tends to be the purpose behind it. it's also simply non of our business bc truth is, it's always deeper than you think.

for realsies now. I absolutely HATE people who say they are apolitical or don't want to get politics involved, especially when they also come from a marginalized group like bro people died for yo ass to be okay rn. Yeah not thriving but still living.

preach! lmao this is so real. when i was younger, i used to believ that not caring about political issues somehow shielded me from them. NOPE. i was so wrong and i'm glad i realized that now as an adult because what in tarnation is going on in this climate... by not choosing to participate in political issues, you just forfeit your own power to advocate for yourself and others. it just ain't cool.
