I LOVE buying old books. I don’t like just buying them because they’re cheap, but because of another- big, Main reason. Yes, the price is one of those reasons. Yet another wanting of older books or used books — Is because of what I’m looking at. Yellow pages show me age, it’s been around for a while.
But books that were loved I enjoy keeping the most. When I find a great book that I want and crack it open, reading a few clips of it, only to discover that it’s been written inside or a bookmark left between the pages. This doesn’t discourage me from buying it. If anything- I like it this way. I like the lost, forgotten notes in the books. I love the names that were written down, now lost in a random book store that it was given away to.
To me, it feels like when I take a used book home- That I take a piece of a stranger with me. Something that was so loved, only to be given away by a family member with no more use of it.
I get to see what they’ve highlighted, what notes they kept inside. The most important part of the book to them will forever be kept within. It makes me feel as if I got to share an experience with them. Even if I never met them. I know it sounds weird, but it’s just the feeling (and or vibes) I get from buying used/old books.
I’m not sure if anyone else feels this way, or if it’s just my odd little feeling.
Side note, I do smell pages of books. I’m that critically insane.
T^T
I’m also using data to write this out. With my WiFi down, I can’t use my computer. Which means I REALLY don’t know how this blog will be seen and whatever I edited in.
I suppose my last entry in the blog would be:
Share with me your FAVORITE book. It doesn’t matter if it’s fantasy, romance, a kid’s book, religious or even a history book. Just anything, I love discovering new books to read. :)
Anyways, I hope you’re doing well, stranger. Be safe out there.
