Personally, I don't own a phone yet, and school activities I've seen a lot of flyers announcing whatever interesting activity. There was this flyer which announced that students could submit any form of visual art, be it poems, photographs, and drawings of any kind, to some student-run magazine of the Literature Appreciation Club... via scanning a QR code.
Wanna donate blood to the Red Cross? Scan.
Wanna read the newest issue of the school papers? Scan.
Wanna order absolutely ANYTHING in a restaurant in China? And yes, I'm talking about SOME but not all restaurants there, and yes, it's from my personal experience, and yes, there isn't a physical menu ready. PLEASE SCAN, MOTHERFUCKER!
We live in a phone-dependent society as of today. This makes people like me outliers. I wish there was a more traditional method of doing something as a fail-safe or something to accomodate non-phone addicts like myself. If a traditional method works, why not introduce the new method AND at the very least keep the old one existing in tandem just in case something goes catastrophically wrong with the new method? What if my phone dies? What if the Internet has issues?
I could go PERFECTLY FINE not joining ANY SINGLE CLUB because apparently over half of the clubs available are dedicated to medical organizations (which inherently isn't bad, just that I personally am not too interested as of yet), and the rest of them I'm too lazy to look up where the hell are they and when the hell they meet up. But, I digress.
To finish things off, earlier today, I saw this Reddit post where the OPENING HOURS require you to SCAN. Sorry but WHY?

I have a phone, but I don't like being dependant on it. One day I was paying at a restaurant with cash and they said "Sorry, we don't accept cash. Only online payments." WTF?!?!
The online menus too are always pretty annoying, the internet sometimes may not work, the cost of running the website is probably more than having a few physical copies, etc. It just makes the job even more difficult. It's trying to solve a problem that never existed.
The main issue here is how society is becoming overly reliant on technology. Soon we'll forget how to pay with cash.
And that makes me irritated. If COVID never happened, I think this moronic thing would probably've been delayed by about a decade at least...
WHAT KIND OF WORLD AM I LIVING IN?!?!?!
