a typical question: what's your favorite colour?

It's such a simple and common question yet each time it has been asked to me, I can never answer it properly.

How do I tell them that all colours look pretty? That sometimes I like yellow but most times, I really like pink yet when I have to choose, my hand automatically goes to purple. 

So, in the end, I ended up saying: "I like pink, consciously. Subconsciously, I like purple but then again- Green also looks nice. Orange too. Oh wait- I like muted yet slightly pastel colours but not too pastel, just with a bit of grey mixed into the hue because it doesn't hurt my eyes as much."

And the person asking would either laugh (amused, not in a mean way) and ask some me to elaborate some more or get mad and ask why the hell I can't answer such a simple question - which only happened once and I don't talk to them anymore, so it's all good.

But as of now, I think I like pink.
