So, I am a (not so) complete beginner to game dev, the only thing close I've done to it is messing around in Mario Maker and my 7 years of Scratch experience.
I already know some pretty basic Lua code, and I want to use Love2D to make my game.
When I try to get a laptop for Christmas this year (Microsoft Surface 13"),
I'm going to start making this game.
So, basically, you're on a small island, with randomly generating resources that you must collect.
These materials give you access to crafting recipes, which are required to make more stuff, and so on.
Eventually, you get access to a PICKAXE, and can go mining in the MINES to get more valuable resources and armor, and eventually, a SWORD
I want it to kinda be a blend of Forager/Minecraft/Terraria with ACNH crafting
I also kinda want to add a day/night cycle where certain materials will spawn more often, and portals open up that teleport you to a mini dungeon with monsters (completing it gives you some money or materials)
So I want to ask, is this doable for me? (minus the dungeons)
I understand basic stuff, variables, tables, all that stuff, but I still have a lot to learn,
So I started watching some guy named Challacade (the guy who's making moonshire) on YouTube!
Lemme know what you guys think!
