Does anyone use video cameras to take photos?

I have this JVC Everio camcorder from 2007 (that was also stolen from walmart by my nan) and i really like to take photos on the thing due to the unique look, i haven't really used it much because you need to be REALLY stable or the photos will turn out blurry
