I can't believe it. Thomas Bangalter came out helmetless and played a B2B with other DJs! The set was mainly Busy P with Errol Alkan and Fred Again plus Thomas. They all played songs they made with some others mixed in between to make for a nice little french house dance soup :D. Since it's Pedro, he also played some from his label, Ed Banger records. Some Justice, SebAstian and Mr. Oizo.
The set was amazing. Some of the songs moved me. There was a song by Underworld that i loved (something about the light in the lyrics...? it was great) and Digital Love!
Digital Love's lyrics are already so cute but in this context it was slightly melancholic. Thomas doesn't make a lot of appearances and Daft Punk is very secretive. So when the song goes "But suddenly, i see the shining sun, before i knew it this dream was all gone". It really was like, when the stream is over and everyone wakes up the next day, the whole event would be like a dream. It's unsure when more daft punk stuff is happening.
There was a sample weaving with it where the lyrics kept saying, "Reaching out to you...". It made the song go from cute to even more warm and loving like a hug...✨
This was a very cool event because Daft Punk always hides their identities (to protect their private life). And their social medias are very closed off as well. Then, they broke up in 2021 too. So it's been a drought. So when a Thomas with no helmet on came out and played a couple of known DP songs, my mind was for sure broken 🤣
I got to experience it in a way that was so enjoyable so I am happy to have that experience tonight!
The set is from -3:34:14. MYD (another Edbanger artist) is playing his song while everyone transitions.
The whole set ends with more Ed Banger, Tatiyana Jane, a new sign onto the label who did an excellent mix closing everything off. Pedro plays Justice's The End to make it super obvious to everyone that it's 6am in paris and it's now time to go home and sleep 😂
