Between the years of 1957-1964 Donald Ewen Cameron with funding from the cia attempted to cure schizophrenia with a method he called psychic driving. They would take random institutionalized people and use thorazine to induce a artificial coma, while in the comma Donald would electroshock therapy on the patients to try to erase their memory's with the intent of adding them back later. After being brought out of the coma the. patients would be put into a sensory deprivation machine (pictured below) while they wore headphones that would play looping messages. the subjects were sustained by an iv and a feeding tube and some subjects were allegedly given psychoactive drugs. The message would be looped hundreds of thousands of times and eventually the subject would be sent back to their family. Too no ones surprise this did not help in the slightest and caused more damage to the subjects. Of course being a CIA experiment this was not about treating schizophrenia but instead about trying to control peoples minds and as far as we know it failed at both. While Donald's wife and kids claim he had no understanding of the CIA's involvement after his death all they burnt all his notes so something was probably going on there. All and all 8/10 very evil very spooky
