I've really been getting into poetry again lately. Especially more classical works, such as Emily Dickinson's poetry, and a bit of the other classics. I've begun sharing them more on the writing Discord servers more and i'm seeing a lot of positive attraction towards my poetry :D. I really want to eventually enter a competition for poetry.

Woah, poetry competitions? That's a thing?
Also nice! Poetry is amazing, to read and write.
Yep! Writing contests are one way of putting your poetry into competition but poetry slams are a way of sharing spoken word poetry (it’s basically a performance).

I've heard of slam poetry! I like when people turn the medium into performances, I've seen people do that sort of thing at certain bars and clubs. As for competitions though - I wish I had the confidence to submit my own to something like that lol. Must take a lot of guts to have that level of faith in one's own writing abilities

Poetry is all about expression. So I wouldn’t have to much fear about being judged. I do think it’s normal to be anxious about showing your works to others.

True, I don't mind sharing my poems online. I have one here I think, planning to upload more but I got some scattered across my website and other social media pages as well. What makes me anxious is competing against other people who can probably write 1000x better than I can XD
