I'M EXCITED FOR ZA!!!!

i am SO excited for legends za, but i do have one concern because i was thinking about it earlier, and that is the possibility that trade evolutions will make a return. i personally would rather stick my hand into hot freaking oil than ask someone to trade with me. i would love to have a slurpuff or aromatisse or even gourgeist on my team because i never got to experience having one at all ever on a playthrough team at all before, and honestly it would be a net positive to just reduce trade evolutions to an item like the link cable from legends arceus. my reasoning for that is not because i'm personally not open to asking people for favors, but just because some people might not know other people in their lives that have access to a pokemon game and are willing to take a minute out of their day to connect their games to one another and trade just for an evolution. it would make getting those kinds of pokemon more accessible to many other people, or alternatively they could do what they did with pokemon like steelix, electivire, rhyperior, gourgeist, politoed and such and make them static spawns like they did in the wild area or in areas in legends arceus.

but i mean other than that i'm super super hyped, especially because i am so in love with that 3000 year old man. i mean whaaat who said that...the wind must be super strong today. but seriously i've been a kalos enjoyer ever since i was young, i even grew up with pokemon y version, and it was my third 3ds game, with pokemon black being the first, but i even have some silly lore with pokemon y. i may be really, REALLY stupid but i once got stuck on the parfum palace hedge puzzle with the furfrou because i wasn't really thinking too hard about it. to be fair i was like 6 years old when i got to that part, and my mind palace wasn't fully developed at all lol. but anyway i got stuck on that part for a good like...7 years? i was so adamant to not look up how to solve the puzzle, and instead i got really frustrated and went to the area outside of it, route 6, and leveled up my team to the early 70s before finally cracking the puzzle so i could progress through the game. it really skewed my kalos playthrough because i was storming through the gyms with a level 74 delphox, charizard, meowstic, lucario, and other pokemon that i cannot recall right now, but still. it was very silly, and i look back on the kalos region with much fondness. so i'm really excited to play through legends za with all the pokemon knowledge i have obtained through the years.

another concern of mine is that i might not like the new battle system, considering that its a real time battle system rather than turn based combat. i am exceptionally bad at video games that don't take their time. also, the removal of power points in place of a cooldown timer is very interesting. i have played pokemon unite a lot before, so i'm not as concerned with the cooldown mechanic, but i'm moreso worried about how the trainer and pokemon move since you have to make the trainer move so that the pokemon can dodge. i'm sure they'll be okay with some people not really realising that the trainer can move so their pokemon can dodge the attacks, but still, some people are just really bad at games, so the real time combat is gonna be super hard. but i am curious as to three things:

1. how do weather moves work - will they last for a certain time? like maybe 10 seconds? will those moves be more of an aoe type thing where if the user and enemy are in the area, the buffs and debuffs occur? will it be replaced with an overworld alternative like how in legends arceus, if the current area was foggy, moves will have an increased chance of missing, or like how if it was raining, water moves would be boosted and fire moves would be weakened?

2. how do status moves work - are they more of a permanent fixture on the pokemon and last during the entire battle, or will they be like how they were in arceus and disappear after a certain time? what about moves like aurora veil, reflect, light screen, and such? i could imagine aurora veil working like how it does in unite, with the user creating an aoe that debuffs the opponents moves while the user is in the aoe, but what about reflect and light screen? oooh what about the actual status conditions too? will they work like how they did in legends arceus or will they still work like how they do in previous generations and be kept after the battle...

3. how do ohko moves work - i mean, if they're even in the game at all, but will they work like how they did in the pokemon rumble series? like, they have to charge up their move and after about a second or two of charging up, they release the move.

anyway, i'm super hyped about the lack of gender restrictions considering the clothing options!!! choosing your gender preference in this game really feels more like a choose which rival you prefer instead. honestly i wish there was a nonbinary option instead of just using he/him or she/her, but its whatever it doesn't bother me that much since i get she/hered and he/himed all the time anyway. i MIGHT be stupid but i kinda wonder if the haircuts are gender exclusive...i might've missed that point but y'know. BUT STILL!! god even thinking about it is making me so excited and nervous and all jittery and uuughh...i'm so excited...i'm sooo so excited...

i'm thinking about all the types of pokemon i'll use..i know for sure that i'm picking the correct option (chikorita), and i'll definately have an elemental monkey on my team too...perhaps i'll leave it up to chance of what other pokemon i'll have, and maybe i'll cycle through different pokemon too sort of like hop from sword and shield. gghhh i've never been so excited about a video game before, i feel insane.
