On Thursday Nooran Rezayi, a 15 year old boy from Quebec, Mtl was shot to death by the police when a call from 911 said that there were armed teenagers in the area. That call was false, and the officer—if he even deserves to be called that—definitely knew, yet still shot the teenage boy. This was a hate crime.Â
Mind you, Nooran was born in Quebec, but his family is Afghan.Â
He was only 15 years old, I cannot imagine a person around my age being in a coffin. Especially because we're in QUEBEC.Â
My heart goes for the family and friends of Nooran. He never deserved this. He was only coming home from school.Â
As an immigrant living in quebec, I now always feel in constant danger, and more so for my family.
Justice for Nooran. This hate crime shouldn't be forgiven. Racial discrimination is still active today, we need to stop letting the police get away with this.Â

I’m with you and I stand by your words. Seeing what happened to Nooran truly broke my heart... I’m sorry this has made you feel that way in Quebec. Your feelings are completely valid, and you deserve to feel safe here. I recently watched the documentary Zero Tolerance (2004), about police brutality and the reality of ethnocultural communities in Montreal, and it’s painful to see that so little has changed from the early 2000. Police brutality needs to stop and we need to protect our kids. <3
