But like people who say they’re gonna stop being friends with people over politics highkey pmo, like have fun with your rising polarization I don’t think I really care
But seriously though I don’t think politics will ever be that deep, and if they do then I’m sure you’re mature enough to just talk it out

I understand not being friends with someone because of their political beliefs, especially when their beliefs endangers others.
Like I'm not going to be friends with someone who votes for people who want black people to be slaves again because yk I'm black. I don't want people who believe women don't deserve equal rights because I'm a woman. Like political beliefs are more than just trump vs Biden. It's literally what they believe society should be.
And I'm not going to be friends with someone who's ableist, or xenophobic because I don't want to be friends with someone who is hateful.
Politics is schools, taxes, foreign affairs, societal laws. If you want to hurt people I'm not your friend, that's like wrong.
You really can't "talk out" things like that because when people make beliefs it's hard to change them.
Probably should’ve added I’m not from the US and the political situation here isn’t nearly as bad as it is in the US, and that I’m talking about mostly people my age here.
Obviously I know politics aren’t Trump vs Biden or anything black and white like that, and that’s why it’s bugs me when people stop being friends with others over politics, because it’s just more complex than that.
I am a lesbian, and I have adhd, so I get what you mean about not wanting to be friends with someone who’s against you, I just personally find it immature to cut close friends off because of what they voted for.
And maybe I just have a strong belief in humanity but I feel like these really hateful politics, like bringing back slavery, just won’t ever actually happen, at least not without some bigger consequence.
In the end whatever because it’s not that deep to me. If you can’t put aside differences for someone you love then that’s not my problem.

Politics CAN be that deep in regards to the lives of real people. Emphasis on can, theres a difference between taxes, school policies and the “war” in Gaza or the Ice raids in the U.S is politics pertaining to the well being and lives of families which is perfectly fine to cut someone off because, why would you want to be friends with someone who supports a genocide or views immigrants as subhuman.
Obviously the stuff you mention is horrible, and in the end it’s up to yourself who you wanna have in your life. Like I don’t wanna be friends with someone who supports genocide either or anything like that. I was mostly talking about people who cut people out over National politics, like why should what someone vote determine wether or not they’re morally correct. I don’t think it’s right to see politics that black and white. Why should someone wanting a change in taxes determine wether someone is racist or not. Idk maybe I’m thinking too hard, but I don’t think it’s that deep.
