I started this blog post yesterday, so these are the foods I had yesterday. :-)
I've made it a goal to cook for myself more (since I found that I do enjoy preparing and cooking food), which makes my meals a lot more visually appealing. I may or may not do more of these, but I tend to take pictures of meals I'm aesthetically proud of anyway, so maybe more will be on the way!
Breakfast
I always start off breakfast first thing in the morning even when I'm not really hungry, since it stabilizes my energy for the day. I recreated this breakfast I had at a local diner the other day, which was a veggie omelet with peppers, onions, and mushrooms, some toast with strawberry jelly, and I just added some apple slices for extra crunch.
Mind the messy omelet. I forgot to spray oil on my pan before adding the eggs!
I'm currently obsessed with strawberry jelly, but it's a bit awkward a few hours later when my stomach digests the food and makes a bunch of noise, which then leaves me hungry another half-hour later due to all the sugars in it. It stinks, since I love sweet stuff the most, but it leaves me hungry quicker. :,-(
Lunch
I usually have my lunch around noon to early afternoon, which cuts into a couple of my classes throughout the week. That meant I would usually cram lunch in right before I head out, or I would wait after I came back home to eat. That would leave me either uncomfortably full and stressed out or uncomfortably hungry until class ended.
I finally made a decision to start packing my lunch so I can eat over there, which I had no clue why my brain wouldn't rationalize in favor of doing that before, but it was a success. It even became a conversation starter while we had our in-class break, where my teacher, classmates, and I started chatting about what we put on our sandwiches! I packed a turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese (best cheese btw) and lettuce and some more apple slices with cotton candy grapes.
I haven't had a whole wheat bread sandwich in a while, since I've been on my sourdough kick (best bread btw), but having the sandwich room temperature like this really made the slight sweetness in the bread stick out and really complimented the salt in the turkey slices.
Snack(?)
My mom stopped by McDonald's and grabbed herself a McChicken with ketchup and mayo and a 4-piece chicken nugget box with some fries, but I've yet to have that. I took a couple of bites from her sandwich, which tasted pretty good with a little hint of spice from the seasoning, and another bite from her cheesesteak sliders she heated up yesterday.
The slider advertised it had pepper and onion pieces, cheese, and beef, but I can only taste and see the beef and cheese. I love me a good cheesesteak (typical northeasterner), but it kind of just tasted sloppy to me?, if that makes sense.
Dinner
This is, like, the third time I've had this in a row, but it's very good even for being third-day leftovers. For dinner I had meat lasagna, broccoli with mushrooms, and some more sourdough toast. It was really good, but I overate and had a pretty bad stomachache. Luckily by the time bedtime hit I was feeling fine.
