The Anti-Clique's instrumental 3rd album Fae Revolt came out today... I've listened to it so much in the past year or 2... tho it took until today for me to fall in love with the album art. I'd come up with a bunch of art and my least fav got chosen by the group, but I adore it so much now. It has all of our silhouettes and makes the new person (Sersi) look like a god - it's so hype!
The Anti-Clique is a trans improv group (that I used to run) that no
longer exists, but we have a bunch of unreleased music that will be
published in the fullness of time. We switched up instruments a bunch... like, I play bass, guitar, uke and drumz at different points.
Each track title combines to become a mega poem (crafted by me and the Polutropos system) that tells a story about the fae rising up after the apocalypse, and then humanity starts to return and makes war against the faeries and the survivors kinda make peace with each other. I miss the original track titles, but doing a poem was such a cool idea from the Polutropos system.
1. Wordless Worlds Burst From Greed Rubbled Cities
2. Guardians of the Enchanted Land Crept Back
3. The Night Grew Alive
4. Preserved by a Choir of Insects
5. Difference was Beautiful and Infinite
6. Mutual, Nightly, Curious, Abundantly
7. Humans Crawled Out of the Dirt Once More
8. Panicked Fear Forged in Myths and Scars Overcame
9. The Land, Feeling War Crawling on its Skin, Set the Grass Ablaze
10. Smoke Spread Choking and Suffocating
11. Haggis' Waged a Desperate Attack
12. Selkies Furiously Drowned Countless
13. The Humans Raised Desperate Armies of Darkness and Metal
14. The Faeries Roared into Battle, Dull with Hatred
15. In the Morning Light, Both Sides Communed with All That was Left
16. New Myths Were Born
17. Now They Live With Us
idk how to describe this, but it speaks the language of my brain... like, I can
have it playing during any task and/or group and the music will never be
distracting for anyone (except for a 9 second track in the middle... some people struggle with that one) - it
just somehow fits and flows perfectly. It has a more scrappy overall
vibe than our previous albums, which vibes with the theme of faeries
perfectly IMO.
I tried animating the album at some point but quickly realised 50 mins
of animation would take many years... also the 14 second animation I did was for when it was telling a slightly different story where there wasn't an apocalypse, and it was just a city VS a forest.
i love this album. i think it's magic. it's imperfect but in a way that just makes it beautiful.
