Today I talk to you about the unsolved true crime case daily stories of the Tumblr App and Tumblr website, I talk about, Tumblr was a microblogging platform launched in 2007, allowing users to post short-form content like text, photos, GIFs, and links to their own customizable blogs which you could add music too and decrate the way you wanted. It focused on user-generated multimedia content, enabling users to "reblog" content from others to foster communities and fandoms. While not in the 2000s, by the early 2010s, it was experiencing significant growth in users and posts, becoming a major force in internet culture and aesthetics. Once a vibrant hub for self-expression and diverse communities, Tumblr seemed unstoppable in the early to mid-2010s. Fueled by fiercely loyal users who considered the site an integral part of their identity the site was one of the most popular websites in the world, reaching over 100 million active users at its peak in early 2014. Many young celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Frank Ocean, created their own Tumblr ‘blogs’ and embraced a more raw, unfiltered online presence, interacting with fans on an unprecedented level.

Jenna Marbles: One of the most popular female YouTubers of all time, she was widely reblogged on Tumblr, which significantly boosted her initial visibility, Dakota Rose, Kiki Kannibal's slightly younger sister who was born in 1995 orginally from orlando florida who used to be a popular scene queen during the myspace days,Dakota Rose had became famous all over the world thanks to websites such as tumblr where she would post pictures on her blog as a Barbie Doll and from her tumblr sucess saw her get popular in mainly in south korea and japan she got famous for her catfish photoshoped photos, ledamonsterbunny, Many of her photos, featuring her distinctive hairstyles, piercings, and fashion, were reblogged extensively on Tumblr, Katie "Babyfayce" Skadoske was a prominent "scene queen" whose popularity grew significantly on early 2010s-era blogging platforms, including Tumblr, Freelee the Banana girl who is a Australian YouTube personality and vegan activist, Freelee’s popularity on the internet began to rise due to her unapologetic approach as she promoted her raw till 4 plant-based vegan diet that is a high fruit, high carb, vegan diet,
But, like many once-great platforms such as Myspace, Tumblr is no longer people's or genration alpha's go-to site, following a catastrophic mass exodus from the platform and dwindling engagement. In 2013, Yahoo acquired Tumblr for $1.1 billion in an all-cash deal. The move was intended to modernize Yahoo’s aging brand and bring in younger users. Yahoo promised to maintain Tumblr’s independence and avoid over-commercializing the platform. However, right from the jump, there was a fundamental mismatch between Tumblr’s community-driven culture and Yahoo’s corporate capitalism goals, Tumblr has got backlash for In 2011, Lady Gaga's team had Tumblr seize the username "Amen Fashion" from a fan so the singer could use it for her own account. The name was taken from a song on Gaga's Born This Way album, The incident caused a minor controversy, with some users criticizing Tumblr for treating celebrities differently than regular users when it came to securing a desired username and with many users criticizing Gaga and her team for using their power and money to take a name from a dedicated fan!
Multiple factors caused Tumblr's decline, but the most significant was the 2018 ban on adult content, which alienated a core part of its community tumblr Alienated it's core users The new automated system for detecting explicit material was notoriously flawed, flagging and removing safe for work content like art, photography, and posts from LGBTQ+ communities which lead to further backlash Tumblr lost approximately 30% of its user traffic. In 2022, Tumblr reached a settlement with the New York City Commission on Human Rights regarding claims that its adult content ban disproportionately affected LGBTQ+ posts. The company was required to retrain its content moderation algorithms and review its appeals process to address this bias, ETC!!!
