Beating a dead horse here but ..

Did you ever notice how the liberals who are always preaching about tolerance are not tolerant of anybody who doesn't think exactly the same way they do?

Now I'm not saying that every liberal is like that but it sure seems that most of them are. Even on SpaceHey for example, I have been banned by a bunch of people on here who support the trans movement which I do not because of my Christian beliefs.  Now keep in mind that all of these people on here who branded me a homophobe or a fascist don't even know me and have never even spoken a word to me or bothered to take the time to get to know me. Apparently they just blindly took one person's word for it on here and that was that.

Just because I don't agree with their political or moral beliefs does not mean that I can't be friends with them in an online community or even in person. I have never blocked any of them on here or were mean to them personally, but as soon as I stated my opinion about it and it was different than their than I was "the bad guy"

I have a few gay and trans friends in real life and many liberal friends, in fact my best friend in real life is a democrat but we just agree to disagree most times or just make fun of each other if something gets political!  lol

Well anyways, thanks to my few liberal friends on here who took the time to get to know me a bit before blocking me and running away after the smear campaign! 😉

Hello! Here’s my personal two cents: I have a few Christian friends of my own who don’t support LGBTQ but have enough decency to respect and tolerate me for who I am and what I support, and I think those are the kind of friendships that last the longest, those who can respect that you think differently than them, and give an effort to respect you, as long as you respect them back. That’s just how I think.

I honestly don’t label myself democrat, republican, liberal, left-leaning, or right leaning or whatever else terms are out there. I do mention that I have left-leaning values - but that’s about it. People tend to argue and argue and argue over opinions that really just don’t matter in the grand scheme of things, because all the points they argue for, get yelled over, and no side is actually listening to the other. Not to mention, like you said, there are many people who contradict their own wants and preferences. It’s really such a pitiful way to live, and I’m sorry you had to experience people like that. I’ve had my fair share of people try and dogpile me and go against heir own beliefs all for the sake of belittling my beliefs so I feel you.

P.S. I also think some people need to know that you don’t need to be buddy-buddy with everyone. I certainly have my own list of people I don’t want around me 24/7 but that’s okay. And some people really need to realize that :p

I respect that you do not believe in the trans movement due to religion. That is perfectly valid and ok! <3

People need to step out of their echo chamber for once.

These people have their own idea as to what things like tolerance and freedom of speech should mean.

Their idea of freedom of speech: YOU ARE FREE TO AGREE WITH US.

Their idea of tolerance:TOLERATE WHAT WE TOLERATE OR WE WILL NOT TOLERATE YOU.

Taking an ethics class has taught me that, most of the time, the Internet isn't really the place to indulge in political discussions. It has also conditioned me into realizing that American politics is something I feel to be ways of controlling the population of the country and keeping us separated, but that could just be an unhatched conspiracy theorist egg hiding in my brain. It's why I don't really label myself as anything.

Maybe I'm just too used to seeing hostility, let alone as someone who is marginalized.

"American politics is something I feel to be ways of controlling the population of the country and keeping us separated"

Oh it for sure is. It used to be way different than it is now. I remember the days when it was considered rude to ask someone who they voted for! Now it's like people have a whole criteria checklist they have to evaluate to decide whether you're a "bad person".

by Dana Scully; ; Report

I was very young during the Bush era of politics and most of what I've seen online is the crazy things people put out during the 2000s, basically making fun of everybody no matter the political spectrum.

There's this very strange sense of hostility that I've noticed being an adult now with the current Trump era. I'd guess the hostility was still there back then, but it's so hard to ignore now. There's a lot of things I've learned from history and there's things that just never seem to have changed.

by OwlLipgloss; ; Report

Well we can handle people making fun of us but when they start shooting at you and murdering you than it's clear for everyone to see who the real commie facists are.

by SafeInSanity; ; Report

I would say there was a definite shift after 2016 -- I would've been 15 at the time and had pretty unregulated access to the internet, and it was nowhere NEAR as hostile then as it is now. Nobody really was this radical about politics online until Trump was elected. It felt like everything changed overnight, suddenly everything became about "orange man bad" and you were suddenly the devil incarnate if you had voted for him. I don't remember that kind of hostility during Obama's terms from the other side. Sure, there were memes, there was namecalling and petty insults. But not like... death threats and doxxing and dehumanization. That's a relatively new thing.

I do think both sides are partly responsible for the division, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think the blame falls much more heavily on the left. Pre-2016, the most common arguments from the right against the left were mostly economic stuff or things that went against traditional values. The left on the other hand opted for dehumanization and fearmongering, calling us Nazis, bigots, white supremacists, all the -ists and -phobes, and saying we're going to take everybody's rights. They target minorities in particular with this predatory rhetoric, and even Obama said shit like "they're gonna put y'all back in chains". Hillary did it, Biden did it, Harris did it. They whip up their party into a frenzy and that's how we end up with people now saying shit like Trump is a dictator, conservatives are fascists, white people are all racists, blah blah blah.

I'm not a liberal, and I will keep my political beliefs to myself knowing the overwhelming part of the Internet is against me (and want me humiliated and dead). But that aside. The assassination had opened another floodgate for escalation of these political battles. I really hated using this word, but my irony-poisoned roommate even brought me a reddit post and say the assassination was "funny". It's not. I don't like gravedancing. I don't like this escalationist movement. I blame a lot of it mainstream media and constant regurgitating of chanting this or that is a nationalist socialist bla bla bla, until enough that a youth is convinced a dissident is worth putting down and tear his family apart. It's disgusting what was happening this month.

To answer your question, yes, I have been noticing. For years. No, I will not make it obvious; to the vast Internet or IRL. I'm tacitly ""agreeable"" because I can't defend myself as well as men do.

It's refreshing to see a likeminded adult in the sea of those who will screech at the slight.

Sorry, I really had to get this off my chest. (I mean this rant)

i'm not liberal but i am pro-trans well for the most part anyways don't expect me to block you just cuz i disagree with you on certain topics (i probably don't on a majority actually i'm pro-trans cuz theres people i care about who are trans and i would hate anything to happen to them but i also care about when the movement is being co-opted for malicious purposes such as on the topic of bathrooms personally i don't care if you hit passing point and have had THE surgery but otherwise it's just an excuse creeps use to get into spaces they dont belong) in fact it's rare for me to block anyone on a political basis i think it's good to hear all sides before making up your mind on any subject for instance with the right wing some issues i disagree with include things such as stances on abortion or the death penalty of course i'm not in full disagreement with them about abortion unlike the liberals i do think there should be some regulation just not at the extreme extent the right argues for (this is why i don't consider myself a full on anarchist btw while i would prefer no government i know that some gov is necessary thus i am a libertarian instead) i also see the death penalty as one of the most evil things concieved by man and i get the idea is to use it on the most evil of people but throughout all of history we have too many examples of it not being used that way and even completely innocent people being killed because a mistake was made in the legal process not cool at all you know of course on the left side alot of what i disagree with boils down more to economic policy for instance taxes the left loves their taxes especially if it's dressed up as targeting the rich but theres not a single tax that doesnt hit everyone and even then all that money collected never gets used for what we ask for it to be used for instead it disappears into politicians pockets

yep! i noticed that! They all are part of a hivemind it seems, where they are hardcoded to perceive anyone who they disagree as racist, n#zi, hateful, etc. I could care less about these clowns, and as long as they don't get on my way, idc.

My philosophy is, "as long as you're not being an outright dick to people, say what's on your mind."

I find that the number of people who can have a conversation about anything, dwindles more each day, because so many people are programmed to have an emotional reaction to the words they hear, ignoring all context, tone and intent.

That said, there are some things that grieve me in my soul and I can't make light of them. The atrocities of October 7 being described as 'acts of resistance' made my stomach turn and my head ache. The foul tiktoks, praising the murder of Charlie Kirk felt even worse. If people cross that line with me, the relationship is done. I can't have fellowship with darkness.

well thats just the left practising anti-natalism as usual, nothing new.

if you think this isn't true, you should considering reading about margaret sanger. you will know more about/change your mind about the left after reading about her.

I hear you man. I tend not to even speak about politics at all except for rare occasions where I just feel the need to say something. Like the whole Charlie Kirk thing. I'm ashamed that so many people out there celebrated it so I told everyone to delete me if they were celebrating his assassination because I don't want those kind of people in my life. But for the most part, I have kept silent on other issues just to avoid drama. But why do I even need to? Because, like you said, people will call you things that you aren't and try to turn everyone against you if you don't support what they say. It doesn't matter if what you say is based in fact or not. It doesn't matter how polite or respectful you are. If you disagree with them, they turn on you and turn all their friends against you by spreading lies. It's a shame it's come to this.

You see, a lot of people follow the leader. They don't think much, just accept what their group says it's right or wrong to do. There are so many underlying problems and this is just scratching the tip of the iceberg.

If someone blocks you, whatever. It's their problem, not yours. One less person to deal with, right? (^_~)

I don't have to support nor preach about anything I don't want to bc it's MY life.

I love how some of those people claim other are fascist yet fascism is left leaning (they should take a look at history to know how Mussolini was inspired by Karl Marx).

Even in the EU, a guy tried explaining that and everyone tried to shut him up (in the assembly or whatever it's called, mind you), bc they can't have people knowing that. Yikes!

Thats true tho ngl

got this as my "Daily Devotional" yesterday, so i'll share it here:

But, ye beloved, remember the words which were spoken before of the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: How that they told you that there should be mockers in the last time, which should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These are they that separate themselves from others, natural, having not the Spirit. But, ye beloved, edify yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the holy Ghost. And keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto eternal life. And have compassion of some, in putting difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, and hate even that garment which is spotted by the flesh.
