September 6th, 2025 - September 14th, 2025
Hey friends, I know I’ve been a little quiet these past days — blame it on the school year kicking off and life rushing in faster than I expected. But I’m back, and the world hasn’t exactly stood still while I was away. Let’s catch up together.
The headlines between September 6th and today feel heavy, urgent, and global.
🔥 Scientists just connected the dots in a way that can’t be ignored: a new study has proven that the carbon emissions of the biggest oil companies aren’t just “bad for the planet” in some vague future — they’re directly responsible for deadly heatwaves happening right now. 👉 Honestly, it makes me furious. How can entire industries walk away from this while people are literally paying with their lives?
🌍 Meanwhile in Africa, leaders gathered for a climate summit in Addis Ababa and didn’t hold back: Kenya’s president openly called out Western countries for breaking their promises since the Glasgow agreements. At the same time, many African nations are pushing forward with solar power and green energy, but without proper support, they’re left climbing uphill on their own. 👉 And it feels so unfair — those who did the least to cause the problem are the ones struggling the most.
⚡ Another story that caught my eye: the growing debate on deep-sea mining. On one side, there’s talk about how much the world “needs” the rare minerals buried in the ocean floor for our tech. On the other side, scientists warn this could destroy fragile ecosystems that we barely even understand yet. 👉 To me, the question is simple: do we really need faster gadgets if the cost is an ocean that can’t recover?
✈️At least 23 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, prompting a swift response from Polish and allied forces. Airports, including Warsaw-Chopin, were temporarily closed, and Poland invoked NATO’s Article 4, calling for urgent consultations with allies. 👉 The government called it “an act of aggression” and launched Operation “Eastern Sentinel” to reinforce its eastern borders. Russia claimed it was a technical error, but the message is clear: borders matter, and violations have consequences.
🕯️ And finally, the most shocking news came from the U.S., where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a speech in Utah. Most of the world disagreed with his politics, and so do I. 👉 But disagreement never justifies pulling a trigger. His killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, fired from a rooftop before being arrested at his parents’ home. Investigators are still trying to understand his motives, but whatever the reason, the outcome is the same: a man is dead, and a young daughter has lost her father. 👉 To me, this says more about the brokenness of the shooter’s choice than about Kirk himself — violence never fixes division, it only deepens it.
💭If you could change one thing from the news this week, what would it be — and why?
Signing off from my corner of the world,
Angel <3
