lately the atmosphere here feels a little heavier. this place used to glow like an alternate frequency. where kids with torn tights, messy eyeliner, strange music tastes could spill their hearts and stitch them together. a corner for outsiders, dreamers, punks, goths, anyone too jagged for the mainstream current.ย
but after charlie kirk's death, the silence broke open in a way i didn't expect. i've been scrolling, watching the feeds shift, seeing names and words that don't fit into the culture i thought i shared with you all. the language feels foreign, like static crawling into my veins.ย
he became a victim of the same violence he chose to minimise. and if he dismissed the deaths of countless palestinian children, it's hard to understand why his own passing should be treated with such gravity.ย
subcultures are not neutral. they've always been torn out of resistance, out of standing against war, against greed, against cages and borders and hate. subcultures have always been left. always about solidarity. always about saying: we protect each other, we dream bigger together, we fight so nobody gets erased.ย
so how did we get here? how does a page full of spiked collars and thrifted skirts, full of neon hair and body mods, echo with words that sound like power instead of rebellion?
how did the outsiders start repeating the language of the system that has never loved them?
i wont say "this is bad" or "those people are wrong".ย
i'll just say: it hurts.ย
because it feels like the ground is shifting under my boots, and the place i ran to for shelter is filling up with voices that would rather erase than embrace.ย
if you're reading this, consider yourself already a friend. i don't care what your hair looks like or what music you play, if your heart beats agains cruelty, then i want you to be here. i need you here.ย
this is our fragment of the web. let's keep it alive.
if you're here, stay.ย
refresh often.
the connection only grows stronger the longer you linger.

I joined this website a month ago and i was really excited about it becasue people seemed so cool and authentic here. But since i was busy with school i didnt get back on for awhile. Now after Kirkโs death the aphmosphere has changed so much it feels like im in youtube shorts comment section. I did not sign up for this.

I really like the way you word things, n yeah you DEFINITELY are right. There's been such a big shift and it's not pleasing to see in communitys like alternative spaces. :(

For some reason thereโs so many blogs of Kirk sympathizers nd thatโs whatโs currently dominating this platform :I thereโs so many alternative people on here, I donโt know why anyone is surprised that people will have values outside of the mainstream and acknowledge both Kirkโs passing and the fact that it was a result of what he preached. No one condones what happened to Kirk except himself and other conservatives. We all hate gun violence. We see victims of gun violenceโchildren at timesโ pass nearly every month. Why does the world stop for someone who thinks the opposite?

THIS!! i opened up blog to see ppl supporting this guy who spewed evil. do i support his murder? no. but there's so much more going on. where was this anger when Brianna Taylor was killed? when Melissa Hortman was killed in her home? ppl were laughing and making fun of George Floyd's death but now are enraged when a messenger of evil is killed. can they show this same amount of anger for the victims of the genocide in Gaza? or is a white, racist, transphobic man more important? a man who believed gun deaths are necessary to keep the 2nd amendment. a man who didn't believe in empathy. a man who doubted the qualifications of Black individuals. who said abortion is worse than the holocaust. i can't show empathy for a man who didn't believe in it and wouldn't give two shits if i died. i care more abt the kids who were shot in school that same day -Nina
