we gotta make new kids' MMOs

the reason theres so many young children on social media is the same reason kids aren't going outside anymore- there's no more spaces meant for their age demographic, and they're getting the social interaction needed for development by entering "general audience" spaces.

back when i was younger, there were so many MMOs for kids to play- Club Penguin, Poptropica, Animal Jam, Wizards/Pirates101, Moviestar Planet, Roblox, and so many more. but over time, these websites either died out due to losing popularity, flash dying in late 2020, or random internet switch-ups deeming them "cringe." while you can still play most of these, the majority of the player bases are the adults who grew up with them- they're still games for kids, but the player are much older. making new MMOs for kids to play would actually give them their own spaces, so long as effort is made to keep these spaces safe.

additionally, if we were to make a new free kids' MMO, i think it should be without a membership system. paid membership systems for kids' MMOs is mostly what ruined them. while i understand that money is needed for advertising and/or potential merchandise, they're still somewhat harmful because they create an unofficial hierarchy system, and most of the people able to afford a membership are adults. not all adults on kids MMOs are necessarily creeps, but every creep is an adult, and kids are gonna find the player with the more interesting house and accessories really cool and see them as a role model. at worse, it's a repeat of the roblox situation- they care about protecting the creeps on that site because without them there's far less money being given to the advertising and merchandise alive. it should handled like this app did- it's entirely free to use, but if you want to support the creator, theres merchandise you can buy. if anything, exclusive items should be event exclusives rather than paid for, as that promotes people to play the game regularly to keep up with the new stuff.

i think that promotion and advertising should be similar to those "animal jam life hack" videos on youtube back in the day, as it'd promote people to explore the game more.

thats basically the post guys

i think the pandemic and the death of flash killed one of the best eras, if not the best era of the internet. most kids using it before then had learned basic online safety, there were so many different games to play and at that point seeing a grown adult on any of them was most often a red flag instead of the norm, and there were less assholes online. i miss those times.
