A man was shot today

I will not mourn this man, many others like myself will not mourn this man but this is bigger than just an individual death; It is emblematic of something much more damning for all of us. At thirty-one years old, Charlie Kirk spent more than ten years of his life spreading misinformation and hate. He was a textbook rightwing grifter that was supported by the ignorant and fed into hateful belief; in my book, he was a damaging individual.

But his murder is just another step towards a new era of America: The fall of a Capitalist empire and two ends of thinking cannibalizing a nation. Something that is unfortunately a footnote in todays assassination is a school shooting in Colorado occurring at roughly the same time; hospitalizing four including the shooter. Although I am sure this is unrelated, it still is very much a harrowing symbol of decline on its own. Especially with its coincidental relation to Kirk.

The death of Kirk will certainly be used as a martyr by the rightwing. They will herald him as a hero and someone deserving of respect as if he wasn't a bottom-feeder at best. I am already seeing them attempt to use the assassination as a way to demonize the left although we have no clue what the intentions of the shooter are as of writing this (will update later). All the left can hope is that the shooter wasn't of a minority as anybody who isn't a cishet white man will certainly be used to blame and demonize the whole group.

Our rightwing government has the left in a corner: All legal ways of reform and change are impossible as establishment-democrats are bought out and ultimately only serve the Capitalist class, so some people who see the situation as dire as it is have turned to radical and violent means; But these means of retaliation are then used to further prosecute and restrict leftists or even just left-leaning people.

Do we devolve into civil war? I doubt it. Left-leaning people are incredibly divided: Anarchists, Communists, Socialists, Democratic Socialists, Social Democrats, etc. Right-leaning people have all been given this messiah they follow blindly. Could leftists realize Fascism is here and that infighting will be their end? Who knows, but I seriously doubt that the left side of the spectrum will find some messiah to lead. I have faith that they will come together at least to some degree, I'm seeing more leftist communication and organizing firsthand. Exciting but terrifying that this is necessary.

I have no clue what future violence will look like, I have no doubt it is not stopping here, and I have no clue what any of this could bring; but one things for certain: when America falls, the whole world will bleed.
