alt ppl

i dont get peeps that wanna b alt but say they cant afford the style or smth

i think a lot of subcultures r music, politic, and overall pretty lifestyle based

but i go to like tj maxx and target for stuff and i js style it fun or i diy it as sum1 who dresses all 70s and it works cus i make it work

and then my bf is more into that emo kinda look and he gets all his stuff from khols

i usually find that ppl that complain abt not affording stuff go for like streetwear or 90s so like whattt idk, seems chill

ALSO a lot of subcultures came from poorer communities and building a identity outside of wats mainstream so like double i dont get itttt

Thrift shops and diy exist, also indeed this subcultures are politics, music and lifestyle based but the fashion is cool too. Personally im kinda goth, I love goth music, and for a longer period I’ve always liked goth literature and ofc other stuff but I rarely dress goth, while I do like the fashion aesthetic and all but I don’t really know how to start dressing the way I want and also as a goth in the society I live in you’d either be judged or fetishized and im not comfortable with either especially the latter.

yea i get that, it defintly took me awhile to know where to start w fashion and it makes sense to worry abt how ppl react and its fine not to dress alt cus of that but im js saying i dont think affordability is the real issue w not getting into the fashion yk. and being bullied and judged has defintly been a issue a lot of the time for me repeatedly so been there
