Social Media detox -day 1

I say this as a final act of desperation. I ve tried doing this again and again time after time and never succeeded. Im barely 14 and i think I ve spent atleast 2 years of my entire life simply scrolling. I m ashamed of myself.

The reason as to why im writing this in the first place is simply so that maybe - just maybe- it will help me get more motivation. Despite my life basically depending on social media, i was never one to really comment or post anything. ( which i know yall really encourge here though lol) This is probably the best community to try this with; (hopefully)

I just wanna be able to do the things i like for more than half an hour at a time or be able to do my homework without procrastinating till 9 pm. Sometimes maybe i just wanna read a damn book! The only time i actually tend to get shit done is ironically at school ( they take our phones away) so i ve geniunely started making a system last year on how to get as much homework done as possible during school hours. I ve even read 300 to 600 page books simply during break or during classes.

The only measure i ve really taken is deleting all social media apps off my phone (since i unfortunetly cant just get rid of that cursed thing). All thats really left is whatsapp, songster and a tuning app. (If you re unfamiliar with songsterr its a guitar/bass/drum tab app :3 ) I have other devices , like the laptop im writing on right now, and a couple others but i dont think the temptation is really there for them.

If you have tips or anything really dont be afraid to comment them. Anythings apreciated.

Mom was right. It was the damn phone.

i started doing the same a couple of months ago and started to feel a difference so soon afterwards!! i got things done on time and focused on my hobbies more, and my mood definitely improved because there wasnt anyone i could compare myself to online anymore

For advice id say the way to not get tempted is to leave your phone out of the room when youre doing a task, so if you do try to reach out for it its not there. also you might feel FOMO after a bit when ya start hearing people talk abt a new dubai chocolate matcha covered labubu or whatever the newest thing is,, but just remember that its better to have a good study-life balance rather than doomscrolling for the whole day and having a terrible mood afterwards (at least i did kind of )

thanks for the advice mate, I ve never really been one to follow trends and stuff it really is just about wasting time on something i dont even really wanna do. I have watched people doing these type of detox and stuff for a while and i just feel stuck. Till now my phone has always been on silent mode so i had to have it near me 24/7. Definetly didnt help lol
