Minneapolis school shooting (CW)

I hate to blog on such a negative note, but this has to be addressed, and I do not see ENOUGH people talking about this or spreading awareness. First of all, rest in peace to 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski, the two innocent victims who lost their lives in the Annunciation Catholic School tragedy. I am sending my condolences to the parents of the victims and everyone else involved and injured.

When the fuck is America going to wake up, improve its gun control, as well as acknowledge the neglect and treatment of mentally ill and potentially dangerous individuals?? I'm sick and fucking tired, and honestly, shit like this makes me ashamed to be from this country.  I try so hard to give this country grace, but nothing is being done to change its direction. Until it's not just empty "thoughts and prayers" and until action begins to be taken, these horrific tragedies are going to keep occurring. Yes, thoughts and prayers are goodwilled, BUT IT'S NOT ENOUGH. ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN. We are going to keep seeing these headlines, fearmongering, and innocent lives being lost until something is done about these school shootings, mass shootings, and gun violence in general.

Please check up on your loved ones, and here are some resources if you or anyone you know needs them.

Suicide Prevention & Crisis Hotline

National Domestic Violence Hotline

Crisis Textline

National Drug Hotline

Disaster Distress Helpline

National Mass Violence Center

After The Injury

Here are also the GoFundMe's of two of the injured victims if you want to or can help.

I will make updates if any more important information or victim recovery efforts come out.

Stay safe, take care of yourselves, spread awareness, and spread love.

Whenever I see someone talking about gun control, there always has to be the response "no, you can't take away my guns. Guns don't kill people, people kill people" and while that is true, our people in the USA have proved that they can't be trusted with guns. the ability to walk to Walmart and leave with a new gun is by far too insane for this day and age. Just like parents do when their toddlers miss behave with a toy, that toy gets taken away. Of course in this instance the 'toy' is a deadly machine that has killed countless Americans, with the number still growing.

the problem isn't guns. it's allowing mentally deranged people to be affirmed in their beliefs, and be allowed access to guns.

I really feel like this blog is important as someone who has been in the United States long enough. There's something about the mass American public and focusing on the things that are not the main problem. They do not focus on the fact that two young lives were lost and the fact that we still have a major shooting problem and defunct gun safety, but they instead focus on the shooter being trans at one point.
I see marginalized groups be massive targets when it comes to unfortunate tragedies like this happening, just because the perpetrator happens to be one thing.

America continues to fail the weak and also those who need help the most. It's been nothing but an endless cycle of finger pointing and shuffling aside the real issues.
There is no reason for bigoted conspiracies to be focused over the lives of actual children that were lost.

This can't keep happening.
