We have all seen the Sydney Sweeney add and how it has been taken very badly by the audience, and here is my take on why did this happened.

I think the reason why the jeans add didn't work out was because you need to know what is the public you are trying to sell to. For starters we are in a moment were people are "woke" they try to change the stereotypes analyze the context and point out if they see something they didn't like.

For the ones saying that Sydney Sweeney was treated like this for being a white, blue eyed and blonde girl, you are right my friend, if it was someone who has different characteristics it would've been different.

However we need to acknowledge, why? People who have those characteristics all through history have had an advantage, (even in the present) they were the standard even for a bad group of people on Germany, so the historical and cultural background is to be taken into consideration, as well as how we think rn, if it was a brown girl, brown eyed and dark haired it wouldn't even make sense "my jeans are blue".

As well as since that is a group of people who have had been made less for looking like that, it changes the context and the message.

(However we need to acknowledge the company is also to blame they made the add filmed it, hired her and posted it)

They phrase "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans/genes" is a bad phrase it is reinforcing all those stereotypes which we are trying to leave in the past since it is not something you choose, so you shouldn't be treated to unfairly for being born how you were born.

That is the starter point however i also want to acknowledge that leaving that alone, those jeans looked so unflattering on her, she is a very pretty women and not just because she has done all that means she is not, we need to stop trying to call a women ugly instead of just acknowledging what they did.

Those jeans made her look boxy, without curves and without an ass, ignoring the bad message the add is still bad, those jeans looked ugly on her (even tho she is not ugly).

So for the people who are not able to grasp what was wrong with that add, please read this.

And also if you didn't understood why it was wrong by yourself you need to go back to english class and learn why the moment when we do things and the historical context matters!!
