How to fix too-warm makeup! + Some cool-toned product recs

Bit of a deviation from my usual content, but idc lol I post what I feel like posting x.x

If you're like me and are super pale AND cool-toned, you've probably struggled to find makeup that doesn't make you look ORANGE or YELLOW or just simply makeup that's pale enough! Especially foundations, concealers and lipsticks.

Well lemme introduce you to a little miracle product -- COLOR CORRECTORS. Specifically the LA Girl one in "lavender", and the blue ELF one. I use the lavender one if I need something to be both cooler AND paler (because it's a really light pastel purple), and the blue one if I just need it to be a little cooler. The lavender one has a white base and is more pigmented since it's technically more of a concealer, whereas the blue is more sheer with a translucent base.

Basically how this works, if I'm using a liquid product like foundations (I use the Missha BB cream in the lightest shade), I just mix some of the corrector in with it on the back of my hand and then apply it with a sponge or whatever. Same for concealers except I apply with a small brush or my fingertips. For lipsticks, I put the lipstick on by itself first, then put like two TINY TINY dots of the corrector on top and smudge it around with my finger, so it mixes and blends out. For liquid lipsticks you could technically mix it up on the back of your hand and then apply with a brush, but I mainly do it with bullet lipsticks -- most recently with ELF's satin lipstick in the shade "dirty talk", it looked SO NICE online but was way too warm on me, I did this and it turned into the PERFECT pale pinky-nude.

I will say it probably won't work with certain formulas like ultra-matte liquid lipsticks, it might mess with the formula and make it more creamy.

For lipsticks you can also put a blue lip gloss over them, but it's hard to find a blue gloss that isn't color-changing nowadays and you'd also be limited to a gloss finish.

NOW onto some recommendations for cool-toned products that you don't have to do this with! :D

1. Revlon Super Lustrous gloss in the shade "Pink Sky" has to get the top spot. This gloss is SO flattering on both light and dark skin tones, and on pale girlies it gives Y2K pinky-nude gloss. I discovered this gloss while looking for one that would look Avril Lavigne-esque (I feel like y'all know the look I'm talking about, but I'll put a pic here https://assets.mycast.io/actor_images/actor-avril-lavigne-avril-lavigne-431654_large.jpg?1652788395) and DAMN if it ain't EXACTLY what I was looking for! It's a thick formula and kind of sticky like most good glosses let's be real

2. Maybelline Super Stay matte ink in "Pioneer" girl..... THE perfect cool berry red color. And good luck getting it off because I've literally worn this for over 24 hours straight before and it doesn't budge. I've eaten greasy ass pizza in this and it did not budge. You want a lipstick that'll survive the apocalypse? This is it.

3. LA Girl Pro Conceal in shade "peach" -- if I could find a foundation in this exact color I'd buy it in a heartbeat because it's almost my perfect match. I think it's technically one of the color correctors but it functions great as a concealer, and has great coverage for pimples and stuff.

4. MAC powder foundation in NC5 -- now obviously this might not be an exact shade match for someone else, BUT I think this foundation is worth checking out and maybe getting some samples to find your shade! For a powder foundation, this is amazing and didn't cling to any dry patches. When using a powder foundation, PREP YOUR SKIN. And I don't mean primer, I mean exfoliate and moisturize. And let that sit for a good minute before applying. I really liked this formula and the more time went on, the more it just seamlessly melted into my skin and looked SO natural, I was shook.

5. Rude Cosmetics Baked Blush in shade "pink pearl" -- I recently discovered this brand on TikTok and even though I haven't had good experiences with other small makeup brands, I tried this blush. And I'm SO GLAD I DID. It's a blush and highlighter in one, and a stunning baby pink Y2K moment. It does have a white base though so it might not work well on darker skin tones. I also use this as eyeshadow and on my lips!

6. Jeffree Star Supreme Gloss in "Celebrity Skin" -- now, this could be a LITTLE more cool-toned; I'd consider it more neutral. But I do like it on me and it doesn't look orange! I think if I were just a teeny bit tanner it would be a perfect nude. I love the pigment and staying power of JS glosses, I have them in several other colors.

7. ELF lip liner in "espresso martini" -- now listen... I love some ELF, but the formula for these is not great. HOWEVER, strictly in terms of color, this is a great cool-toned medium brown shade! And it's only $2 which is actually insane. Just.... don't expect it to last very long lol x.x

8. JudyDoll Ice Watery gloss in #7 -- They always be changing the shade names but I think the numbers stay the same.... Anyway, #7 is a gorgeous cool blood red color, I freaking LOVE this stuff and it forms a film when it dries that makes it transfer-proof! It stays for HOURSSSSS, it does dry your lips out a little though so exfoliate and moisturize beforehand.

That's really all I've got for now; as I find more products I'll add them here but I'm trying to use up the "bad"/too warm stuff that I have before buying new stuff. I'm sort of doing #projectpan but half-heartedly, lol.
