Everybody know what is happening with the social medias recently and everything that is happening in the world right now (cof trump, cof palestine, cof censorship). With all this happening I decide to start boycotting, and oh god, what did I get into... Every single company supporting the genocide, was incredible. One of those was, of course, Meta.I've been hating Meta for a long time, and this was the sraw that broke the camel's back.
I'm not leaving Instagram ONLY for that, that was the decisive reason, I'm leaving for the constants violation of freedom of expression, the horrible algorithm, the use of AI and how they use YOUR content to feed them without your permission, how them win money with everybody's account with the annoying ads, steal your information, manipulate you and a lot of more reasons.
It doesn't make sense, this situation is awful and the whole internet has to get its act together and boycot that horrible company, I delete my account, it's not even entertaining anymore anyway, your friends can see your likes, those ugly features that they steal to Tik Tok, your algorithm mixes with your friends algorithms, and don't even mention that you're just wasting time there, just scrolling, sad.
But I don't just come with the negative, I also come with solutions!
1. DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT
"But Verook! I can't delete my account, I have a lot of things there, my saved, my photos, my memories"
-You, probably
And yeah, I understand that, I'll show you how to save everything!
a) Open a new File Garden account or some similar place of your preference
b) Use insget.net to download everything in your account
c) Upload everything to File Garden
And that it's literally all, you have a backup for everything!
2. NOW WHAT?
"But Verook! What can I entertain myself with now?"
-You again, probably.
That it's easy honey! STOP FUCKING DOOMSCROLLING AND DO SOMETHING!
Here is a list of activities:
a) DIY (Do it yourself):
It's easy and cheap as fuck, plus, now you have nice things, like accessories or decorations for your room.
I'll start DIY blogging soon anyway!
b) Use spacehey:
Let's make spacehey active again, fill those forums, those groups, make blogs, be yourself!
c) Web Sufing:
Use sites like https://neocities.org/ or https://nekoweb.org/ and https://web.archive.org/ to discover cool new websites! it's actually fun to see the creativity of many people! A lot of blogs, a lot of people talking about their favorite things, recommending movies, series, music, clothing styles and much more.
d) Go outside:
This is hard, I know, you don't now how to start, but don't worry about that, here a recommendations:
*Join a club (if one doesn't exist, start one and start by inviting your friends)
*Go out with your friends, you don't have to do anything specific, LAZING AROUND IS NOT ILLEGAL.
*Go to local concerts, cheap coffees and stuff (someone will eventually talk to you)
*Be careful (don't go crazy, be responsible)
And a bunch of other things I'll be saying on blogs!
If we all work together, we can make the internet and the world a better place. JOIN THE BOYCOT, READ A LITTLE, AND PUT A CLIPPY AS YOUR PROFILE PICTURE ON YOUTUBE!

Instagram IP-banned me without so much as a warning or explanation within less than 48 hours of me making an account there. From what I hear, it really is a nightmare of a site that for whatever reason, still has over a billion users and literally the only reason I'm considering using it at all is for business purposes (and even then, I'm going to be quick to abandon it if I have any problems).
Unfortunately, pretty much all American-made social media platforms, as well as TikTok, are basically controlled by the Israeli trolls who flood them and the Tsahal soldiers who're appointed as moderators. Really, it should not be hard to make and design a site that actively bans them and other influence ops from evil governments.
we're going through a horrible situation, but there's always other options

what do i do if my only ways of contacting certain people are on instagram...? i have only one idea for how to fix this issue and it involves meta getting even more of my private information
Do you have any other messaging apps downloaded? Telegram, Discord, or WhatsApp? For me, it came down to this: If I wasn't willing to download a new app to message someone, or if they weren't willing to download a new app to message me, then that friendship simply wasn't going to be sustainable.

i have discord but it has its own privacy concerns and i only use one account which is completely disconnected from my real life... and i also refuse to use most messenger services because of similar concerns

I usually use Telegram (i hate whatsapp)
You can search for open source apps for messaging as well, in Linux there are several options you can test if you use the computer, it's about searching and sharing if you find something :]

nice tutorial! Sadly a month ago I had to get instagram cuz of our school chat being there but I am planning to delete my account as soon as I get the chance to. Also I have clippy as a pfp on most websites/platforms lol. (I changed it after I saw the vid saying to chage pfp to clippy)
It is understandable when you have no choice! Think like this says positive things about you, they should change the school chat to Telegram though
