Birthdays As A Witch 🕯

Blessed be and welcome fellow witches and followers of the craft! Today we are going to talk about birthdays. I will not be giving out my birthday but I am a virgo personally and thought I would type this up before Virgo season! However this all can apply to any zodiac and birthday of course!! 

So first off if you are reading this for your birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Im glad you made it around the sun another year my friend. If it is someone you know having the birthday and you just want gift ideas well that’s nice too. Finally if you just wanted to read this thank you and enjoy!! 

When it comes to birthdays everyone likes different things of course. Some people are lowkey and will do a spell alone in their room, others have parties or gatherings or feasts! It is YOUR day so try to do what helps you feel good. 

1. Of course the easiest way to celebrate is treat yourself. Buy something new or go out alone or rest or self care in a bath with salts. You can make the bath a cleansing one even with the right ingredients! You could also buy new tools for your altar or spells or whatever you like to do. 

2. Another choice is to read or journal or whatever relaxes you but keeps you stimulated like meditating too. Any of these things are a good way to decompress on your day. 

3. A nice way to start the day anyways is a cleanse and prayer but especially on a day as high status as your own birth. Maybe take longer in your morning routine if you have one, or set one up for today only where you cleanse and pray or even read tarot whatever works for you. 

4. If you are more of a giver on your birthday you could give offerings to any Deities you work with. You could sit alone sharing wine and a candle if you feel more inclined to than a party. 

5. As you can do for any holiday really you can of course redo your altar! Sweep out old bad energies and bring in new ones for the new part of your life. 

6. You can do any ritual you feel fits or make up your own. If you have a coven they may set something up for or with you. If you are in the broom closet dont worry, when you blow out your birthday candle with family you can still set an intention as a wish!

Now for things you can buy for yourself or others on a birthday! I guess really you could buy these any time but a birthday is a good reason to give a gift!! 

1. Tarot cards / oracle cards - some people believe you HAVE to be gifted cards and can not buy your own. Others dont hold that belief but if your witch does buy them some I know they will be happy! 

2. Crystals - any crystal is a good gift but one they need is even better! 

3. Candles - no witch can have too many black and white candles. Or give colors for other spells, or a set even! (If your witch believes in not using air on fire buy them a snuffer for the flame!)

4. Lighters and matches are nice if you get candles too! 

5. Books Books Books!! - No witch can have too many books on their craft! 

6. Incense - cleansing smoke IF THEY CAN HAVE THAT is a great gift. If they cant a bell is a good sound cleansing substitute! Also if you get sticks or cones maybe get them a holder for that kind if they dont have one! 

7. Decorations and shelving can always be nice! It helps keep things pretty and organized and most witches have a lot of tools if they have their own space. 

8. An athame or wand is nice if you are close to the witch and if they need one. Some witches do not want these as gifts but others do! 

9. A cauldron - okay I dont think I have ever met a witch who would not love a cauldron of any kind! Small or big or hanging they will love it! 

10. Jars for spells are nice, same with herbs and small crystal chips for those things. Or bigger jars and bottles for water! 

11. Scrying tools like a mirror or crystal ball is nice if they are into that

12. Many miscellaneous thighs at shops like a rabbit foot, tea, jewelry, statues, plates, bowls, pendulums, bags, oils, runes, singing bowls, mortar and pestle, kits (not from amazon but small businesses irl or on etsy etc). It also never hurts to just ask what they want!!!
